Your daily cat and kitten news

They all adore her.

Apparently she’s still a bit jumpy but I reminded them that she was with me for a full 6 weeks (maybe longer), after being homeless and stray for probably at least that long. She’s only been with them for …. coming up for 6 weeks I think. And watching her around the kids (and going by the reports) I’m as sure as I can be that the home she ran away from had unruly disrespectful kids who handled her all wrong when she was very little. Shes still learning to trust, but she loves the kids and seeks them out. She just doesn’t like it when she hears them hammering towards her.

:)

you realise the kitty internet will realise you're part of the cat distribution network now, and they will turn up on your doorstep more often...

Mate. She wasn’t the first, and I’m sure she won’t be the last.

I had a three legged stray tom in the garden at the beginning of the year. Did I post about him? He’s now got an excellent home. I visited him not so long ago. He’s changed his roaming ways and is now a home-body.

Hopefully now the pesky teeth are gone he'll feel like eating, sounds from what you were saying previously that it was causing him a lot of pain, poor lad - whenever any of mine have had teeth out, even though they will have been a bit sore from the surgery itself, the relief of having the teeth gone was obvious.

So I hope he's recovering well and up for some grub :)

Just saw this, that's good news. Hopefully now they've removed the source of his pain, he'll recover faster.

He's just eaten about half a bowl of what he'd usually have (in terms of amounts I mean) Which is more than he'd eaten in the previous 5 days combined. Very pleasing :)

Remember the stray not-stray cat I re-homed with a friend down in Kent?

Here she is in a photo sent to me this evening.

Today I’ve been thinking about where she came from. When she was living with me, I wondered if her original people were worried at all, if they tried to imagine her being happy, sheared away from ideas of her getting squashed on the road or chomped by a fox.

Seeing this photo last night set me off thinking about them again. I hope they can imagine her being well and happy and loved.

Does your cat like to have their tail pulled?

Several cats I’ve lived with have enjoyed having their tail held firmly while they pull away. I guess it gives their lower spine a good stretch.

I had a cat who’d come to me almost daily when I was sat in my office chair and position himself at my left side, then repeatedly walk towards me so that I could run my hand along his back, catch his tail and hold onto it. He’d pull through, circle round and do it again, and again, and again. He’d let me know (somehow, not sure how) that he wanted it stronger, so I’d hold on and he’d dig his claws into the floor and pull against me. Once he’d had enough he’d bugger off.

Cat has recently realised that he likes to have his tail pulled.

Lil’ Bob loves this too. His brother Vic not so much 😼😾

Yeah, not like pulled in a potentially damaging or injurious way, just a little bit of tension.
Radar used to absolutely love slightly rough strokes when he was being petted.
All at his say so of course, it has to be a case of you know your cat and are attuned to their body language.

Cheers Felix 🥲

Sadder than I should be due to loving my cat so so so so so so so so so so much #chokes
12 is pretty young. I had the pleasure of meeting her in person - a sociable sweet girl who even had her own cat-sized gate to reach the platform. RIP Felix :(

Well clearly you can't, you're not going anywhere for the forseeable.
You'll have to phone in sick or cancel your plans at least until lunchtime :D
This is why I don’t think I could ever have a cat again.
My ADHD means I cannot sit still long enough to tolerate a cat on my knee/lap for as long as IT wants rather than as long as I want, which is two or three minutes, max. I always end up having to turf them out so I can do something :(

Aye, Jakey won't sit on OH - too loud and fidgety to go to sleep on :(
Radar adored OH mind you, but he'd go in for cuddles when OH was falling asleep.

:(

i've seen cat rescue places advertise particular cats and warn that they aren't lap cats, that they might sit next to you but that's as far as they will go.

of course cat might change their mind once they had adopted you...

Reminds me of the time we came downstairs to find a huge Koi Carp on the dining room rug. One of our boys must have wildcat genes.
That is the one thing I hope not to have to handle, and if I do, I'll have to wear gloves to dispose of it. I can't bear the texture of fish (other than the chippie type that comes in batter). Hopefully Tottenham doesn't have any of those types of posh ponds anyway.
