Your daily cat and kitten news

My two have fleas and the Frontline doesn't seem to have worked  I am so careful to apply it properly so I don't think it's that. I don't know what to do - poor Ryu is really suffering and so are my kids. I've treated the house too. Might call the vet for some advice?
Yeah vets will recommend different brands depending on what currently seems to be working best, see what they say.

Ah really? That's good to know, thanks. I think they might say I need to wait a few weeks though. The house is jumping, it's foul.
As someone who fleas love to bite, I sympathise.

Just anecdotally, we were using Frontline until about a couple of years ago when the vet said it wasn't as effective as others and recommended Advantage. For all I know Advantage may be ineffective now so yeah, ask the vet.

(We're not using anything on Paddy currently as he barely goes out, and that's just to run up and down the lawn or lounge on the decking).

The OTC stuff is crap. Just had to de-flea our 2 last week with stuff from the Vet (Think it was called “Stronghold”) and it’s done the business.

Hey guys... does anyone think this needs vet attention? Lilith seems well, wanting her breakfast, and no temperature as far as I can tell. I don't want to upset her further by putting her in the carrier for a vet trip if I really don't need to! But I was obviously a bit troubled to see a chunk taken out of her beautiful ear, even though it's barely noticeable. So what do Urbs reckon? Vet or allow it to heal on its own?IMG20231009095323.jpgIMG20231009095245.jpg

Oh poor baby! Will she let you clean it? Cooled boiled water and a bit of salt? I would do that and keep an eye, but if you're worried could you call them for advice?

Thanks Polly, I'm just on hold with them now waiting to get through. My branch in Tottenham are fully booked today so I'm trying to get through to Crouch End. I might have to keep her in for a few days to allow the injury to heal. She'll moan!

I would keep an eye on it. And yes bathe it like Polly says.

Poor girly. Do you have any idea how it happened?

Vic comes in like this all the time. Looks bad but it never seems to affect his mood or appetite so I leave him be. Par for the course if defending territory. Hope she’s ok

We got to spend some time with this gorgeous friendly girl when we stopped in our nearest pub for a happy hour pint on our way back from grocery shopping today.
She was so friendly, immediately came over and miaowed for attention then there were greetings followed by time spent on another chair getting used to us where she groomed and had a nap, then there was lappage and much scritching and face and chin rubs :)

The bartender didn't know her name so I don't even know that she lives in the pub, she looks like the off licence cat from a bit further down the road so could be the same one visiting the pub for attention and cuddles. I hope I get to meet her again though, she was delightful and so sweet and affectionate :)

Tentatively trying out my lap with just front paws on my leg

(And yes I wanted to take her home, lovely girl ❤️ )

Vic has been missing since yesterday afternoon and didn’t show for breakfast this morning. Was contemplating a “Have You Seen This Cat?” campaign and then, 5 mins ago, the dirty wee stop out trots in like nothing’s up and wants biscuits! He hates being hugged so an extra long embrace was my revenge and also my relief. He’s now cleaning himself..

Cat chap has been out all night and I’ve not seen him today at all seeformiles .
I worry of course because he hasn’t phoned or anything.

It’s pretty normal for him to be absent when the weather is warm like this, and I‘m taking down a wall in the garden today, which is disruptive and I’d expect him to keep his distance while that’s going on.

But he ought to ring to say he’s okay.

Bernard has been trying to stalk the squirrel that comes in and out, stealing our bulbs and digging things up. It's hilarious that he never stops trying. I love watching him creep across the lawn only to be stymied at the last moment. :D
It's a young squirrel and Bernard is certainly not the Great White and Black Hunter, so I'm not too worried about stepping in squirrel guts any time soon. He gets the odd mouse and once found a bird's nest, full of babies but that's about it. The other birds I've seen him with were clearly sick or already injured before he got to them.
