Yet another US college gun slaughter - "at least 10" killed in Oregan shooting

Jesus. What kind of fucked up cunts are n that thread?

seems to be quite standard for that site... most of them are presumably just teenagers trying to be 'edgy', but it isn't the first time a killer has posted on there either before or after murdering people

the whole site is pretty messed up, they seem to get away with it by having no archive so stuff gets deleted automatically before they even have to respond to any complaints etc..

Can we just have...within 'World Politics'...a sub forum about American mass-shootings?

It's not really news, it's just a constant ...snuff type of thing. That's not to detract from the threads themselves, certainly worth comment.

But they are singular.

The gun nuts are saying, like they always do:
1. It's a mental health problem. We need to screen out the crazies.
2. Arm everyone.

Is it just me but in the past few years has the rhetoric and appalling attitude from places like 4chan dialled up. I'm not saying they are the cause of this, but fucking hell it's not helping the public discourse.

the reporting of this stuff is completely fucked... the news stations go into overdrive and try to get as much information as possible and get it published barely checking for facts...

seems someone on the 4chan website published a picture of a completely unrelated kid nicknamed 'eggman' alleging he was the shooter and sure enough a bunch of news organisations in the US have picked up the story and in a desperate attempt to get the news out first have published it without even bothering to check... now some random kid, who is still alive, is being posted all over social media as the killer... along with a load of abuse directed towards him, his looks etc..

and of course the shooters themselves, often loners, know that all those reporters will be desperate to find out everything about them, their motives etc.. they do it partly to make an impact, go out with a bang and the reporters completely play into that

The Oregon gunman said as much in his blog less than a month ago, where he praised the Roanoke shooter. Would be good if the media just stopped releasing the names and details of these people but it's not going to happen.

"I have noticed that so many people like him are alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are. A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems like the more people you kill, the more you're in the limelight."

I hope everyone of you out there in twitter and Facebook land read this and know.

This is what happens when the mockery of the socially inept and those without girlfriends or friends goes too far.

We are supposed to help these people, not make it worse for them. Any of you who have ever laughed or even talked about someone being a loser or a virgin or not having a girlfriend or that socially awkward need or whatever, you all have blood on your hands as well.

Screencap this post and spread it far and wide.

Let's start becoming part of a solution instead of egging on the problem. Let's not lose anymore lives.

Nah. Its what happens when whiney little entitled creeps get hold of guns and decide to kill a bunch of people. Seriously, fuck 4chan.

Huffington Post had a report, this is the 45th school shooting since January 1st.

Even if you love your guns and the right to bear arms bullshit, where in the right frame of mind could you justify that?

Hannity on Fox looking genuinely confused by combo of 4 Chan, IRA photos ( all over shooters his myspace) and killing Christians, and looking slightly deflated by obvious lack of hope at this stage for any islamic based motivation

I've recently heard the suggestion that we could require gun owners to carry liability insurance. The theory is that it would raise the cost of gun ownership beyond where you could own a lot of them, but wouldn't actually infringe on the right to own one.
yeh. but it sounds to me like this would abridge the right of poor people to own guns while leaving rich people with arsenals. that's simply going to ensure massacres carried out by the wealthy.

Pickers actually does have a point here. If gun possession is illegal, only the nutters will have guns.

Unfortunately, no matter how much you attempt to idiot-proof something, there will always be a bigger idiot !

There are serious problems with almost any firearms regulations, especially when the system seems to include a "right to carry arms" and that is only with "legally held" firearms - it ignores the "illegally held" ones, which are another problem altogether.
