We're busy building a secret giant linear mirror along Hadrian's Wall, so all the sunlight will be ours! Good luck with living in a world of perpetual darkness! :p

Excellent.

Tomorrow would be a really good day to secede from Scotland close the frontier and remilitarize Hadrian's Wall.

Another poll, this one conducted online between the 7th-9th September. 53.9% Yes, 46.1% No (weighted).

Hi weepiper -- I'm trying only to talk about polls ATM, but I'm a little suspicious (metholodogy wise only) of how accurate online polls can ever be.

Not saying the broad trend suggested by a poll like that has no merit, but I'd suggest caution for various reasons. Fr'instance how does the weighting process that Dan Barker mentions really work?

Also, it seems 'Don't Know' was not even a poll option in the first place with that particular poll :hmm:

Personally I think it will be No. There are a lot of idiots and the UK press is going to basically oversaturate us with propaganda for the next week.

Having said that, I do think we will never an opportunity to change Scotland and/or the UK in my life.

What the UK parties are proposing in terms of new powers is really depressing. The will try and shift blame and not responsibility to the Scottish Parliament.

Well I am still firmly in the No camp but as before I don't have a vote. John Major was putting the case for a No vote on the radio this morning and I broadly agree with him, how we got into this situation is beyond me for example why was DevoMax not on the ballot paper if there had to be a ballot?

There will be massive upheaval if there is a Yes vote and it will take years to sort it out fairly to both parties and then despite not wanting to be in a union with England Wales and Northern Ireland, Salmond still wants to be in a union with Europe? wtf .. either you want to be in beneficial unions or you don't. Irony is that politicians of England are questioning the EU but not the UK, while Scotland is questioning the UK but not the EU!

John Major was awful. He was utterly patronising (if only the Scots *understood* things, they'd all vote no) and he didn't really make any attempt to hide how pissed off he was at the utter temerity of the Scots even considering independence.

As to devo max, the Westminster government rejected it as an option on the ballot paper.

As to 'you either want to be in beneficial unions or you don't', the Tories are happy to be in a union with Scotland etc but many are not happy to be in a union with Europe. Why not look at things the other way round as the Scots are doing..?

Think there's a new poll (Survation?) due out at 10:30 tonight

Personally I think the No tone is still utterly stupid - a combination of 'what are these stupid people doing? If only they understood' and a last ditch attempt to offer concessions they never wanted to give. It looks like a desperate Establishment with no understanding of why so many people want rid of them.

there is a polling thread if you want to do that william

I don't want to start putting a tinfoil hat on... but given the extraordinary reaction of the establishment to the possibility of a yes vote, is anyone starting to wonder whether it may simply be ignored and drastic measures taken to ensure the UK's territorial integrity? Or at least that some discussions along those lines are taking place amongst some shadowy types?

The British Government obviously has to negotiate in good faith but it is also within its power to insist in the interests of democracy that there be a second referendum to decide whether the outcome is acceptable.
:hmm:

Either you are in favour of unions, with shared power, or you are not, if many Scots are not in favour of sharing democracy with Westminster why would they be with sharing democracy with the EU? The EU is also not an easy bedfellow.

It's OK. Scottish people will not get the chance to decide on that.

We're coming up this weekend. There's going to be serious lovebombing. You should see how many cushions we've bought.
After the flag in Downing Street, one of the three twunts is going to be sporting a tartan tie at the very least. Clegg in a kilt? They really are getting that desparate. Still think it will be no, due to the solid block of No voters, as in butchers post, but it's all getting pretty farcical from Cameron et al. There's headless chickens shaking their heads in disbelief.
