Friend of mine has just had her car keyed in Partick. Can't have been for the YES stickers she has on it.. Oh no. Just a random car scarter on the loose.:(
Which is interesting because there's been more and more 'YES' posters and flags going up in windows in the Partick area over the past few weeks.

Hmm...

Hearts’ statement reads: “Heart of Midlothian plc, as an organisation, would like to stress it remains neutral in the debate over Scottish independence.

“Supporters of the ‘Yes’ campaign were outside Tynecastle Stadium prior to yesterday’s Scottish Championship clash with Hibernian, displaying banners and literature to fans attending the game.

“We understand these banners and leaflets carried the official club crest. This was done without our prior knowledge or consent and we are currently investigating this breach of copyright.

(Note that this is clearly a different incident to the one above.)

Anyway, I don't know if it's shameful or depressing that supposedly left-wing people and "anarchists" are lining up behind Scottish nationalism.. Because really, that's what you're doing. Certainly a sign of desperate times in the absence of real movements.
Supposedly? Quotation marks?

Get here on the ground, speak to real people, find out what's going on. It's not about nationalism or patriotism or identity. Read the thread. It's about getting rid of WMD, defending the welfare state, defending the NHS, asserting the voice of working class communities. Not about liking Salmond or even trusting him. The question isn't "Do you support Salmond". It isn't "Do you approve the SNP's White Paper". It isn't even "Do you have faith in parliamentary democracy?". It's "Should Scotland be an independent country?"

Do we go all purist and refuse to participate, or do we look at the situation we have and say "What can we do with that?" This is the most engaged that I've ever seen the population. And the discussion at every party, in every pub, on every bus is not about identity, but about instrumental issues. Who would squander that? The SPBG. Hermits. Trappists.

A customer who has already staked a record £600,000 on the outcome of the referendum has added a further £200,000 to his wager, and now stands to collect £973,333 should the outcome of the poll be a No vote.

Spokesman Graham Sharpe said: "This gentleman's stake of £600,000 was already a record for political betting, but his latest 'investment' as he calls it, takes his total wager up to £800,000 - the biggest amount ever gambled on the outcome of a political event."

The man staked his initial bet of £400,000 at odds of 1/4 in June 2014, followed it up with an addition £200,000 at odds of 1/6 at the beginning of August, then added a third instalment on Saturday at odds of 1/5.

I really hope yes win.

For a lot of angel capitalists, that that type of risk might be acceptable (although they would expect a much bigger return I would have thought). I think its no surprise its in London, as I do think Scots think it will be a lot closer than some commentators there.
