Why the Guardian is going down the pan!

Large, well presented interactive mapped piece about Labour's targets seats but, if my constituency is anything to go by, not well researched or secure:

From the piece above showing C & W as Labour's 3rd target seat in Greater London:

That's fine until you consider the actual electoral position:

Yes it is marginal and it is a target seat, but not for Labour who hardly campaign in the seat. 5.2% swing, my arse!

I realise that the Guardian is re-using what other people are quoted as saying in their headline, but that doesn't make it correct. Yet another reminder that it's not a "dog whistle" if everyone can hear it. I feel like it gives utterly blatant shit like this a bit of a pass somehow.

Cunts. Team up with any chancer who has stolen data in the hope of cheap web traffic, then pretend it’s a high moral ground position. Then lionise a Putin-corrupted rapist.

The rest of their coverage - relegating the election liveblog to an afterthought - is all just as sympathetic.

I know Tolly Poynbee is a bit "yes, and" but this one's even more delusional than usual with Toynbee arguing The City is turning social-democratic:

I have been finding it quite hard to unearth Tories of the diehard Thatcherite stamp – still-faithful believers in her small state, let alone in her privatisations that are now reviled by most Tory voters. I talk to Mr A, a man in his late 40s living in one of the charming streets here, who worked most of his life in the City but now works in the public sector. He was always a Tory, but no longer. He never voted for Blair. “I and my friendship group in the City on WhatsApp used to be 80% Tory, and they’re 80% Labour now. We’ve turned more left as we get older,” he says. “We were brought up on 90s free market economics at university; we were told it worked. It doesn’t, not in growth or productivity.”

No Polly, a handful of City boys mouthing vague platitudes about the failures of neoliberalism is not evidence that the City is discovering social democracy. It's evidence that Labour is not in any way threatening the continued wealth robbery of high finance goons.

It's astonishing how deluded the adults in the room are about how anything actually works.

Well they're different things aren't they - the majority of people living in Central London aren't going to be City trader finance types. It probably is true to say the current Tory party doesn't have much to offer that electorate on the whole, they're really not going to be bothered by small boat nonsense.

Yeah, it’s just a bog-standard blue wall seat really, of the type that are going Lab or Lib all over the South East.

Polly Toynbee's ALIVE?

I mean I have to say that while that is a super trivial article, carrying four pints is actually a useful thing to be able to do, and it doesn't appear to be trying to shame non-four-pint-carriers or claim that it's due to class superiority or if you voted for Brexit you wouldn't be able to.

Carrying four pints is surely a basic skill you learn when you start going out. Or the ability to ask someone to come with you to the bar for a hand.

yes that is a photo of St Pancras. but clearly EMR trains not Eurostar and not on the international platforms. so nowhere near the revamped check-in area.
