Why the Guardian is going down the pan!

Whereas the story in question has been reported by other UK media outlets and undoubtedly carries a lot of social commentary value, I struggle to understand how the Guardian concluded a man committing manslaughter against another man in New York should be the lead news on their website right now…

Would you have said that the murder of George Floyd didn’t warrant headline news?

It's a massive story. Another black man has been lynched and horrible incidents like these highlight just how messed up the US is. In terms of racism, and the treatment of person who have mental health issues or find themselves homeless.

I saw the headline earlier today and thought "ok well it might not be that bad, sometimes the Guardian gives perfectly reasonable articles terrible headlines for some reason". However this is not the case here.

I heard that Noam Chomsky emailed in to say that is was without doubt the very worst and most dishonestly-referenced article he had ever read

I shit you not - Polly Toynbee on the pain of the self-awareness of living a well-heeled life on the "left":

But to live a well-heeled life on the left is to live with inevitable hypocrisy and painful self-awareness, with good intentions always destined to fall short of ideals, social concern never enough, struggling to be good but inevitably never good enough. I hunted hard for any redeeming twig of a working-class branch of my family tree, without success.

maybe a thinly-veiled response from a fellow staffer in here

Ailidh Forlan, AKA food blogger Plate Expectations, tells me: “With the coming of the trams Leith is becoming a real foodie haven.” As I tuck into the best nduja and gorgonzola foccaccia this side of Bologna, I’m inclined to agree.

People who come from Edinburgh, and especially who come from Leith, think you're all cunts. Literally no-one local calls it 'Feaster Road', wtf.

With the disclaimer that I have never been to Leith, that article contains every Guardian travel bingo buzzword:
'Natural' wines
Artisan bakery
Sustainable café
Food blogger
Craft breweries
Cultural hub

Best of all are 'Edinburgh's La Rambla' and the area having one of the highest numbers of Remain votes.

I mean I always check which way a place voted in the 2016 referendum before going anywhere - doesn't everyone?
