Greatest bass player evah!!!

The best I've heard live was some geezer who'd won the 1995 Rajasthan drumming competition... deservedly.

But it you want rock'n'roll, it's all about attitude, and for that I'll have to nominate Mo Tucker.

Sly Dunbar and Carlton Barrett, of course
Yes and yes. Minimal perfection.

Buddy Rich and Elvin Jones. Buddy was awesome.
Elvin was more awesome. By far. Subtlety innit.

But anyone that can hit a cowbell on each beat whilst doing something shuffly gets my vote. I'll toss in a Clyde Stubblefield and an Al Jackson

Now renamed 'jaga' and headed towards dodgy prog rock according to reports.

Is there a better drummer than Neil Peart of Rush?

yes. almost anyone.

having a drum kit the size of a small country does not make you a great drummer. it makes you a bombastic cunt.

Especially when that bombastic cunt just happens to be a Rand cultist like mears.

shite.

best drummers -
bill ward (black sabbath)
keith le blanc (tackhead and 101 other acts)
drummer in rudimentary peni
filthy fill outta motorhead
lots of prog/kraut drummers etc but they're dull.
drummer in the boredoms

neil landstrumm??? pffft!! the geezer's a nob:

house-wise: without a shadow of doubt the best drum machine programmer is the stunning DJ RUSH (though paul johnson can programme some funky as fuck beats too, not to mention steve poindexter for giving us the classic WTMF beat)

could go on but cant be bothered, it's sunny outside and im off out for lunch.

Elvin Jones, drummed with John Coltrane.

Definately, didn't he play through an earthquake or something? Coltrane's band at the time was an elite - McCoy Tyner on Piano, Coltrane on sax, Jones on the drums, Jimmy Garrison on bass...

The ensemble effort that they produce on the first two tracks of "Meditations" has to be heard to be believed!!!

Listening to 'A love supreme' at the moment - such a beautiful suite, fucking amazing musicians. Some great Jones drum solos on there. And of course Garrison's bass solo.

Stephen Morris from Joy Division/ New Order was pretty good, specially on JD's stuff... same as the baldy bloke in Radiohead. Live, he's pretty tight.

:)
