Yu_Gi_Oh did you miss the food when back in the UK? You're tea now is one that didn't make me shudder but I still think I would be reaching for a packet of crisps but then thought they probably don't do salt & vinegar!

ETA: So far I have not enjoyed much Chinese food and have only been able to jump in without worry with Indian veggie food. Faced with veggie Med/Middle East food I still wobble at the sound/look of it!

I did miss the food here a bit, but the hardest thing was resisting a massive western food binge; I could easily have stuffed my face with cream cake and pies day-in, day-out.:facepalm:

I think there is some lovely East Asian veggie food, especially if you like tofu. There are usually Buddhist restaurants about which are totally meat free and serve quite mild food too. :) What kind of stuff is on offer for middle-eastern veggie food?

Home made chicken Saag with brown rice for tea here tonight. First time I've made it so I hope it's OK!

Haunch of wild venison, asparagus, new potatoes, those posh carrot things, and then strawberries and clotted cream

steak, kidney and mushroom pie

yesterday i had devilled kidneys on toast. im going to buy kidneys more often so any recipes gratefully received!

I had a big fried vegetarian English breakfast for lunch, so I'm going with something fairly light...Thai jasmine rice cooked in a pot with lentils and stock, maybe some beans added. Some fried chorizo and garlic on top. Lush.

Griddled lamb steaks which were marinated in ras el hanout, roasted peppers, red onion, Aubergine and garlic, fruity cous cous and a big dollop of harrisa.
Coconut yoghurt and coconut ice for pudding.

Sort of, was cherries and apples, pasteurised brie and a dressed salad... I think of ploughmans being cheddar, grapes and pickle :D

Always a big wedge of crusty farmhouse bread with thick butter too.

But yeah cheddar and pickle with an apple is a great ploughmans in my book!

We had a BBQ in celebration of a weekend of sun (and back breaking work in the garden)

Having not had a roast for three weeks (OH THE HUMANITY), I did slow cooked pork belly and all the trimmings yesterday. Honey and mustard carrots and parsnips, curly kale with garlic and a proper gravy.

Need to trim the herbs tonight so will be doing roasted chicken thighs with garlic, oregano, thyme and parsley . Leftover veg from yesterday :)

Yesterday we had a pub roast. They didn't have a veggie option so I had just the trimmings for half price. It came with gravy and a creamy cheesy sauce, well yum.

By 8pm I was drunk and hungry again so I had an incredibly spicy veggie burrito from El Panzon.
