What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I have failed in my salad plans. I have gone with a turkey club and a whole bag of handcooked black pepper crisps, a vodka and apple juice and many, many chocolate truffles for pud. Imagine the words FUCK IT!! Flashing next to me while I eat 🤦‍♀️

Last year OH was working at a well known London market around Xmas time and came home one day just after Xmas with 4 FUCKING KILOS of posh chocolate truffles that weren't able to be sold by their best before date - but were still fine to eat.
They were absolutely delicious, I had to pace myself a bit, they lasted us until May.

I had my first seasonal dinner yesterday - I'm building up gently :-

I put the last of my infernal stew in a jar in the freezer and scrubbed the pan - I need a break from umami.

Day 1 -carrots, unpeeled Maris Piper spuds, whole 500g bag of sprouts.
Tahini, cranberry sauce, Dijon mustard, Fitou ...

It turned out perfectly - no water left in the pan.

Hopefully tonight I will remember the mushrooms, Cavallo Nero kale and tofu burgers

Morrisons was awash with yellow stickered veg (seriously crates of the stuff piled up waiting for shelf room) - I got a couple of punnets of chestnut mushrooms for 20p each and a bag of courgettes.

I wasn't quite sure what I was going to have for tea (other than it needed to involve leftover roast chicken and possibly use up some streaky bacon) but the veg I got means I am leaning towards chicken, bacon, mushroom and courgette orzotto.

I had 4x rashers of streaky bacon, 3x eggs - scrambled, a huge amount of fried chestnut mushrooms, fried bread, and buttered toast.

I don't normally go to Asda, but bought some of their luxury range streaky bacon in there before Xmas - it's better than Morrisons luxury range so far. I don't buy bacon that often but will try to fit in a trip to Asda when I want some in future. Bacon is the one thing I have rarely but spend a bit more on because there is such variable quality.
