What's for tea tonight? (#8)

a friend just dropped a huge punnet round, harvested from his allotment this afternoon. I am delighted. :)

I noticed a thicket of brambles just round the corner from me the other morning on the way to work. Not ripe yet, and in a secluded location so no pesticides used by the council - might go and rob the birds when they're riper. :)

One of my old reliables - Pasta with a basic white sauce into which I added various things that were looking a bit sad in the fridge. Today's concoction had Stilton, garlic, a bit of garlic salami, the last of the ham and the end of the hoummus.
It was lovely and as a bonus - I need have no fear of vampires tonight.

I've actually just been super ordered. As I've got a few days off, the weather is shit and I need a but of time going easy on myself I've just planned out a load of meals which will hopefully be awesome, but should also freeze well. Like to keep a load of home cooked stuff in the freezer that we can just nuke when we can't be arsed and its all looking rather empty.

Yesterday was my son's 18th ( ) so after we had cake at home (a raspberry jam/cream filled Victoria sponge, cos he's officially OLD now :p ) I took him and a bunch of his mates out for a couple of pints before sending them off for two hours of cocktails and karaoke :D and then on for a chinese, finishing up with tinnies on the beach
In all of that though, I COMPLETELY forgot to think about what the girl and I would eat and once we left the pub we were both stuck, trying to work out what we felt like.
Nipped into the Co-op for inspiration and came out with some hummus and pitta bread and a giant box of tictacs :hmm: discussed maybe treating ourselves to a takeaway but didn't make much headway there, then finally decided on the cheapo swedish meatballs the offy sells, to have in the pitta bread  but got there and they didn't have any  so we ended up having a fake Rustlers chicken burger each.
Omg, a fake, fake burger - it was as bad as it sounds :D

Today will probably be southern chicken fillets, wedges and peas. Magic banana and berry ice cream for pudding - and I'll undo all of the goodness in that by mixing the rest of the pot of double cream into it too.

Made a banging veg chilli but had to have with cous cous as my courgettes were off so I had to add the sweet potato to the chilli. A few months back I ordered without noticing 3kg of cous cous. Down to about 200gms on the second bag!

Was meant to be bolognese and veg again but there was a load of free shit from Infinity Foods' bakery downstairs when I got home  Had three slices of pizza earlier (two vegan courgette & mushroom, one veggie with less of the same veg and cheese on top) and an enormous slab of tomato & herb focaccia just now :stuffed: Wondering whether a yoghurt will lead to a wafer-thin mint episode... :hmm:

Barely had dinner at home in a few weeks.....tonight it was The Dean - fake New York style booths, and okay scallops and calamari (with teeny red bell peppers the size of red currants) and spiky red pesto. The calamari were tiny and delicate and in a crispy Texas ranch-style coating. Beers and cold Sauvignan blancs (the latter, foolish :thumbs:). Having eaten in some of the best joints in London over the years, I wasnt impressed but it wasnt a bad effort http://deandublin.ie/eat-drink/ we moved on to popcorn and beers elsewhere.

Thinking to have quorn sausages, the fat 'best of british' ones with the veggie chilli. Have a packet in the fridge and trying to eat what's left due to pending holiday. I reckon that will work together.
