What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I like roast veg in this weather and I've a few odds and ends to use up, so onto the roasting tray with a good glug of olive oil has gone: butternut squash, courgette, a few mini corn on the cobs, red onion, pepper, a few cherry tomatoes and a fuck-ton of garlic, with a lashing of fresh herbs from the garden. Accompanying brown rice is in the rice steamer now.

i've got some veg to roast and some gammon in a pan, taking it very very slowly though! yellow and green courgettes, sweet potato, broccoli, onions, mushrooms.
i'm also going to cook a pan of rice and beans to have with the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch / dinner.

Sainsburys had been stripped of everything that could be eaten cold. Finally found a bag of slightly battered salad, a tomato, and a packet of halloumi, so wraps for us.

(it's mayo with a dab of ketchup and some extra hot chilli sauce in the container)

I'm eating all that sort of stuff these days (apart from the pork pie) cos of low carb diet; I've got really into salads and how versatile you can make them. Growing up it was just lettuce, sliced egg, tomato cut in half with a jagged line, grated carrot and that was it

My curry's still cooking, I'm fucking starving but it can take as long as it takes (Mrs S☼I's gone for a bath). Nowt left to do but add creme fraiche and spinach a couple of minutes before serving

Roast gammon was fucking amazing :cool::cool:

Having a veg jalfrezi from the deli at Sainsbury's- I really rate it and a good sized portion is just £2.50 so will have that with a little bit of chilli paneer from a Indian 100% veg 'sweet shop'. They get called sweet shops/centres but sell curries/samosa's etc too. This was £3.75 a good portion. I'm not in a cooking mood but always in a curry mood. Will have rice & hot mango pickle.

Whitefish fillets in sweet chilli sauce and burgers on the electric grill + potato salad + green salad. Wine.

I used up the rest of yesterday's roast veg (particularly loads of slow roasted onions) in an omelette for lunch.

So dinner will rice made with ghee, coconut milk and kidney beans. The remains of the pork is going to be shredded and cooked with a load of spinach. Steamed broccoli on the side if I'm really really hungry.

A full rack of home-made Chinese style spare ribs.

Marinaded for 24 hours in oil, chillis, five spice, salt, black pepper, sugar and soy sauce then steamed for three hours before deep frying and draining. Garnished with chopped chillis and more salt.

I have to say they were unbelievably good and proof that god hates vegetarians and Jews. Nothing personal... Some of my best friends are etc etc etc... But it's true... Sorry... He does :(

Got some of the already not very good lamb biriyani out the freezer i did some weeks back. Got a feeling it will be inedible and if thats the case it'll be eggs and/or bacon or something.
