Had a lie-in till 9, got up and suffered 3 and a half hours bickering over the kids' 20 minutes of chores  took the kids on the bus into town to get smally a haircut. That was very funny - he had long hair past his shoulders but his new glasses were getting tangled up in it so I persuaded him to get it cut. We went to the barbers shop and the bloke cutting it had the hairstyle smally wanted - a number 2 up the back and sides and a spikey top. The shop was packed and there was an audible, simultaneous gasp from everyone as the barber put the clippers to smally's hair. The woman next to me kept saying 'Oh my god, I hope he likes it' like a mantra :D He likes it

Then we came home on the bus (after seeing almost everyone I know in town ) and found that Mr Madz has had the tractor out and prepared the veg plot ready to put all the seeds in

Now I'm going to dye some silk as I want to play about with making silk paper ( though I have to hide the hair gel first becasue smally must have already put about half a pot in his hair)

Trying and failing to mount a bit of work, and shove a light behind it so it glows through cut out bits :(

:D How old is smalley?

I have been doing a huge shop and trying to find places to put it when I got home. I need a kitchen double the size of the one I have, or at least twice as many cupboards. :( Little un has been boring the pants off me talking about 007 spy cards, fast cars and explaining how the cogs on his drawing of a car work. Of course, I ummed and aahhed in all the right places but have now sat him at the table to draw another picture just so I can escape for 5 mins and drink my tea in peace.

We are going to bake cakes next, I'm rather looking forward to when he is old enough to go to town with his mates like his brother................

I am currently alternating cleaning with drinking. Do some cleaning, have wine, do some cleaning, have wine. It's the only way to get it done.

Bumbling around making cd labels, watching a bit of the rugby, thinking about repainting my toenails and singing along with the Upsetters.

Also, doing the shake and vac! :D I boughtsome at Wilko's this morning.

Tell me you did the whole song and dance routine while you were doing it! :D

I've been reading and napping - ahhh...all snuggly ont couch with me two little kitty cats snoozing along with me

Just opened a nice chilled bottle of gewurtztrameiner, smiling to myself thinking about how chuffed me dad was with his Willie Nelson tickets, and just about to skin up:cool:

My lass used to bore me rigid with extremely long and detailed explanations of american wrestling - the moves, the wrestlers, the wrestlers full histories, the storylines...except she always knew when I'd switched off and would ask stuff like 'and can I have 20 mars bars', and then laugh and point at me when I said 'yehhhh' :D:mad:

:D

I get paid to watch wrestling. I know far, far more about WWE than is healthy.

I've been had like that before as well.

I must say I am looking forward to an evening in all by myself - boychild gone to work, girlchild gone out with mates and not back until 11, him indoors in London.

I'm here on the sofa with lots of cds, a couple of bottles of wine and the rest of the cake.
Bliss.

Mmmm, I'm rather enjoying the solitude (girls have been packed off upstairs) too

Although I can just hear them playing on guitar hero

Can I come round to yours - sounds like an ace night in

I've been cooking up a storm: marinading some chicken, making beetroot salad (without staining my hands or any part of the kitchen) and some really kick-ass coleslaw, then eating my gigantic tea and crying over the end of Beaches. I have managed to successfully avoid doing any studying all day. Well done me! Might have a bath later on.

I've got about 20 kilos of beetroot - what's the recipe for salad? :D

I have been going back to the shop to buy icing sugar, icing fairy cakes, dropping the boy off at the roller disco, shoving my dinner down me, clearing the kitchen and having the same old argument with the teenager about why I don't want her hanging round the streets.

I'm tired out now.

I'm tired out now.

Teenagers will do that to you

I snapped at my lass before cos every single thing I do, she has to comment on, or ask about.

Plug laptop in - 'is that a new lead?'. 'yes'

'why have you got a new lead' - 'because the other died'

'what's that noise' - 'its the laptop not recognising the new lead'

'why does it do that?' - *sigh* 'it just DOES'

'is there anything to eat' - 'yes - check the freezer'

'what you doing' - 'well, I'm TRYING to fuck about online' if I wasn't having to answer 20 fucking questions

Boil up some beetroot (skin on) till tender when pierced with a knife. When it's done, skin it, chop it into dice and while still hot/warm toss it in a dressing made from:

5 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp sherry vinegar
juice of half a lemon
1 tsp soft brown sugar
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp coriander seeds, toasted and ground
1 tsp cumin seeds, toasted and ground
1 clove garlic, mashed up with a teaspoon of salt
3 spring onions, chopped very fine

Cover and leave to stand for at least 30 minutes before serving. It's really nice :)

That's not a salad, that's a fucking dinner :D

Thanks - looks lush

Cleaning up the remains of a bottle of ink I spilt in the bathroom :(

(Mind you, the place looks cleaner now than it did before.)

I'm making this for when you come down

well that's very kind of you madz

If I was up, and was likely to come down at some point, I'd be very grateful

However, I'm just pissed, so you can take your minging beetroot, and stuff it up yer arse, sideways :)
