Had the day off so have been doing the washing, then preparation for my Introductory Akkadian course, whilst listening a 'best of Gil-Scott Heron' tape.
It's driving me mental (the Akkadian, not the Gil-Scott Heron). 160-plus signs for syllables (many of which look very similar, and have multiple values), rather than a mere 26-odd letters in a sensible alphabet. Why did they have to have such a complicated writing system, the c**ts? No wonder their civilization collapsed
