what the bible says about money

Hah. Not his biological father, anyway.

I think Jesus was also in catering. He did weddings (licenced), and large outdoor gatherings (up to 5000).

I can't imagine Abraham's boss was too pleased when he announced he was going to travel to Israel indefinitely from Mesopotamia

In fact the only time anyone in the bible seems to do any work is when moses and the other jews are slaves :hmm:

I don't know what IDS would say about all this

IIRC a lot of the main characters in the OT were nomadic herders or huntsmen - there's a lot of time for talking and overthinking while following animals around.

And sculptors specialising in gold cattle.
It's not known how representational the gold bull was. If an average 4 year old can draw something recognisable as a cat, an average goldsmith could rough out something with a muzzle, horns, 4 legs and genitals. Mostly made with the lost wax process, or by goldleafing a clay/dung figure, possibly with armature.

Making a gold bull would have been gross misconduct though. :D

Not if your patron deity seems to have deserted you (which seemed to have happened a couple of times on the way to the Promised Land). Inviting another deity to help in exchange for devotion seems fair enough to me.

Except this was a deity they'd only just *made*. How did that work? - No, I didn't just make that, did you? Well, must be a real God.

(Overlap with the homemade sex doll thread?)

They venerated the golden calf as a representation of a deity they wished to help them. This is why it's called an "idol". it's not the actual deity itself.

Do try to keep up, boy!!!

If they'd just made the actual deity, rather than a representation with which to call the deity, it could still work. If you need it badly enough, and want it enough, and believe that it's possible, it can be done.

Don't believe me? Ask a Chaote - creating deities etc for a specific purpose is only a tiny step on from creating servitors and thoughtforms for similar purposes.
