What stupid shit has Trump done today?

USCIS is Starting a Denaturalization Task Force | The Takeaway | WNYC Studios

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services is creating a new task force. Its goal: to examine what they say are bad naturalization cases, according to Director L. Francis Cissna’s June announcement.

As a result, the organization expects to hire dozens of lawyers and immigration officers in the coming weeks to find U.S. citizens they say should not have been naturalized, to revoke their citizenship, and then eventually deport them.

With all the other shit happening, this doesn't seem to be getting much coverage. It's extremely worrying. This body has the remit to strip citizenship from US citizens. Their processes will be secretive.

I predict they'll target vocal opponents of the Trump regime or their loved ones for "examination" followed by swift denaturalisation and removal from the US. Betting they'll figure a way to confiscate their US assets as well.

Also saw a Tweet suggesting their remit could extend to stripping citizenship from natural born citizens. If they 'find' irregularities with the naturalisation of one's parent or grandparent, that could be seen as nullifying the native born person's citizenship.

I suspect cases will be overturned by courts, so long as there are still some not packed with Trump regime approved judges. However, many litigants will have already been deported unless courts give them stays. No guarantee of that. And, their rights to work, etc. would go immediately even if not deported. So they'd be living on fresh air, Orr perhaps incarcerated until the appeal heard.

The purpose of this task force is to instill fear and exert control over opponents of the Trump/GOP regime.

This - The Times finally gets to the bottom of Trump supporters: It turns out they're garbage human beings

is an excellent translation of the latest NYT crock o'shite about Trump supporters - this time that they like him because they identify with his "family values." Opinion | Trump’s ‘Purple’ Family Values

In the New York Times' quest to get to the bottom of what makes every last Trump supporter in America tick, we have been treated to endless interviews, loving tributes to downtrodden towns in which nary a non-white person is ever seen, and one particular day when the op-ed pages were turned over to Trump supporters to argue for Trump's genius directly. But this is still not enough, and so Sunday's paper included a zoological analysis from a journalist who grew up among them.
Reading between the lines, what we have here is a group of people who practice what is known in the rest of the world as aggressive ignorance. You can’t say that Trump’s behavior bothers you if you drive wooden stakes into both ears and swear you didn’t hear about any of it.
These are the people who press their mistresses for abortions but who also are not vexed by abortion-providing doctors being murdered in their Kansas churches; they are confederate flag-wavers in Union states, miffed that new civil rights laws a half century ago slighted their own ne’er-do-well families in some never-quite-describable way; these are people who are so obsessed with the thought that someone better is looking down on them that they are willing to punch whatever kittens need punching in order to prove they're at least better at kitten-punching than the rest of you.
There is an obsessive need, in our journalistic culture, to explain bad behavior away. Donald Trump is not an amoral cesspool of lies, he is merely engaging in a particular brand of political rhetoric that seeks to persuade via the creative denial of the world everyone else can see with their own two eyes—and it's not for we keepers of the truth to judge.
But the acts speak for themselves. Trump's supporters do not care about his values, his lies, the means by which he achieves his ends, or whether or not he burns the Constitution in a barbecue pit so long as he can make them feel better about their own lot in life.
You want to find good people, look for the people who are just as poor but care for others anyway, or who are under just as much economic stress but do not use it as excuse for cheating and stealing their way through it—or offering up eager praise for those that do. Good people don't claim to have family values and then discard those values at the drop of a hat when a rich, shouting hatebag they saw on their television set tells them to ignore all that.
Yes, the rest of us do indeed look down on these people. Those of us with actual family values do; those of us who care about honesty in government do; those of us who are not furious bulging-eyed racists do; those of us who believe thousands of years of scientific discoveries are worth more than the dribbling pronouncements of a street-corner charlatan do; those of us with actual religious convictions do; those of us who are actual patriots do.

Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out Scott:

Embattled EPA chief Scott Pruitt resigns amid ethics scandals

Probably one of the most corrupt people in the administration out of a very corrupt group.
Christ, did you see his resignation letter?

Alleged sexual abuse victim sends emails to Ohio Rep: Police

President Donald Trump is coming to Republican Rep. Jim Jordan's defense after the lawmaker was accused this week of turning a blind eye to widespread sexual abuse while he was an assistant wrestling coach at The Ohio State University.
"I don’t believe them at all. I believe him. Jim Jordan is one of the most outstanding people I’ve met since I’ve been in Washington," Trump said to reporters during a brief gaggle aboard Air Force One on Thursday. "I believe him 100 percent. No question in my mind. I believe Jim Jordan 100 percent. He’s an outstanding man."

Isn't a divorce supposed to be imminent? Is this how he plans to deal with Melania and her working as a model when originally in the US on a tourist visa? Use it as an excuse to get rid?

This is a thing to behold. The man's a loon.

"I have broken more Elton John records, he seems to have a lot of records. And I, by the way, I don’t have a musical instrument. I don’t have a guitar or an organ. No organ. Elton has an organ. And lots of other people helping. No we’ve broken a lot of records. We’ve broken virtually every record. Because you know, look I only need this space. They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the sports, they need a lot of room. We don’t need it. We have people in that space. So we break all of these records. Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.”

Maybe this has been discussed here already, but Donald Of Orange appeared anxious to invade Venezuela.
...in August, President Trump reportedly asked his senior advisers about invading Venezuela...the question stunned those in attendance...Trump's top aides reportedly took turns explaining...how invading the country could significantly damage U.S. relations with Latin American countries...A day after the meeting, Trump told reporters “Venezuela is not very far away, and the people are suffering and they’re dying,” he said. “We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option if necessary.” ...Trump countered his advisers' arguments with examples of invasions he considers successful, such as the invasions of Panama and Grenada in the 1980s.

Pro-Trump & Russian-Linked Twitter Accounts Are Posing As Ex-Democrats In New Astroturfed Movement

Most of the tweets were strikingly similar, and the vast majority pushed a very familiar narrative. Using the hashtag #WalkAway and claiming to be former Democrats, social media users shared their stories of leaving the Democratic party after being turned off by the “hate” and “division” of “the left.” Many of them cited the incidents involving Sanders and Waters as examples of the “intolerance” and “bullying” that supposedly drove them to support Trump after years—in some cases, decades—of voting for Democrats.

If this sounds familiar, there’s good reason for that—it very much echoes the “civility” debate playing out right now among the Very Important Thinkers and on the opinion pages of the Very Serious Newspapers. The basic narrative is one that we’ve heard countless times before, but this time it’s being exploited by a new cast of characters, and, at least in some cases, with the intent to deceive.

The primary functional goal of an astroturfed campaign like this one is to manipulate public opinion by gaming online algorithms to amplify certain content and push it onto people’s social media feeds and to the top of search engine results.

‘It baffles me’: Maine lobster fisherman says U.S. border patrol has been boarding American boats, not just Canadian

U.S. border officials have not been deliberately “harassing” Canadian fishing boats in disputed Atlantic waters — agents have boarded numerous American vessels, too, as part of an unprecedented recent operation, says a prominent Maine lobsterman.

John Drouin said his and his two sons’ boats and those of other American fishermen have all been stopped in the past couple of months by U.S. Border Patrol vessels, something he’s rarely seen in 40 years plying the waters.

“It baffles me just as much as anybody else,” said Drouin, a member of Maine’s lobster advisory council. “I have no clue why they’re here, spending taxpayers’ money and resources … (But) for whatever reason, they now have a presence.”

“I asked him what they’re up to and they said, ‘We’re just documenting who’s in the area,’ ” recalled Drouin. “They said that’s what our directive is.”

No surprises here. Trump always sides with with abusers and abuse enablers. And he joked about the #MeToo movement the other night in Montana, raising a jolly old chuckle from his devoted followers.

Trumpists dog whistling to Neo-nazis?

Noooooo.

I despise Trump and what he is doing to my country, but no.

That's too much of a leap between "We Must Secure The Border And Build The Wall To Make America Safe Again" and "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children." "Secure the border" and "build the wall" and "make America fill-in-the-blank again" are common figures of speech here. There's nothing constructive about trying to link them to the white supremacist slogan.

Christ, if Reagan had started talking like that during a speech they would have been chasing after him with giant butterfly nets.
