What should our councillors do about the cuts? Tuesday 19th Oct Sunderland

Sunderland Civic Centre, Committee Room 2, Tuesday 19th OCT (night before cuts day - 'public spending review')

"What should our councillors do about the cuts" - 2 local activists go head to head and debate this crucial question.

The coalition government wants to make ordinary people shoulder the burden of the economic crisis through cuts in public services, so the rich and the bankers don't have to. Such attacks on our living standards will have a devastating effect on communities throughout the North East whose economies remain vulnerable to those cuts. The richer south east is far better able to withstand such money being taken out of its local economy.

Many of these cuts will have to be implemented by our very own local elected councillors. Can we pressure them to refuse? Is there an alternative to these cuts? Come and witness the debate on this issue between 2 local activists, and, HAVE YOUR SAY AT THIS PUBLIC MEETING, which is being held the night before the governments dreaded spending review.
