I should think so! Russia are one of the traditional powerhouses of the games. I can't believe we actually got more gold medals than Russia -- that's almost unthinkable.

That's not a very good metric IMO, something like (1st-2nd)/(2nd-last) would be better. Using a linear system was what was wrong with the old pre-war decathlon scoring.
