Btw, to those who have admired Crispy's bookshelf - it is also my bookshelf. And the fortune cat is mine. And the photo on the top shelf is of me and a friend on the great wall of China

We have two copies of Catch 22, Oryx and Crake and something else which I forget now to prove it!

People can try and guess whose books are whose if they're really that inclined/bored.

the worst bit is that i reckon it wouldn't be over statement to say i've given away maybe 3-400 books over the last 5 years, and certainly haven't replaced them all.

Nice another poster with taste, Terry Pratchett amongst the books...

tbh i've not been a massive fan since my teens. i approve of stealth philosophy though!

bluey - have you read all them books?
if so they say you have far too much time on your hands / are an insomniac / have been alive a long time :D

bluestreak, your books say 'i am a hoarder'
got that right :)

I would be too if I wasn't also a miser who didn't really enjoy spending money on things.

of course not, no more than about three quarters. perhaps even less. i often give away books when i've read them if they aren't superb / valuable / rare/

My spare room looks like one of those really poorly kept second hand bookshops. If I want to find a book I find myself crawling about on top of piles of books and finding what I'm after can take hours.

Lots of Marxist/Socialist stuff. Some classics and gothic horror. Plenty of Art and Art history especially Surrealism. Some poetry.

dont have any books really.
Me neither :( Not that I don't read, and I do regularly acquire books, but I keep moving around and books are heavy and non-essential so tend to get left behind. I'm looking forward to one day having a more permanent home so I can get a book shelf

and i've just spotted the Bandini quartet in the top right which I bought on Sunday

In order of best: Ask The Dust, Road To Los Angeles, Wait Until Spring, Bandini, Dreams from Bunker Hill, for me. Took me about 2 days to read the whole thing though.

I enjoyed it very much, but not as much as you, I think. That'll be going back to its owner chooch at some point, freeing up some valuable space.
54's there, too -- kind of saving that one up.
Cough ;)

oh this thread is awesome. its really funny seeing books you have living strange other lives in other peoples flats! I wish mine weren't spread around 3 different countries and oh i weep for the books i've lost or lent out and never got returned. found a first edition of love is a dog from hell by bukowski in a second hand bookshop and had to leave it in a flat when there was an accident... :(

also on the missing list, pretty much all my bukowski (im upto around 6 purchases of factotum.. :D) my celine, my original single issues of the bandini quartet and so many others... still have a few hundred wheres my camera :)

I went and took pictures but it is a bit dark and I've not set up ftp since performing surgery and therapy on my computer. :(

A truly pitiful haul. 95% of mine are in boxes in attics. I'm trying to keep the current lot down so I can move to another city in one trip and one smallish parcel.

I'm living with 25 books :(

I've got loads in my mums shed, but don't have the means to get them down here (other than bringing down a few each time on the train) or anywhere to put them.

As it is, ours are in the only free space in the hall....

The kids have more than we do currently...

Btw - I have literally just (today!) tidied up the bookshelves.... ;) :D
