I became vaguely aware of him in the 70s, when I was young. But didn't get into him until the late 80s. How do you feel about Mozart?
I don't think it is the same. Mozart's works are performed frequently today by professional musicians, orchestras and run by world famous conductors. Bob Dylan's works are not.

speaking of van gogh this unreleased rarity is great. caught in the middle of writing it he seems, give it a while to get going

not to prattle on like a weirdo but i have been listening to this and it's...alien. how we phrases things, the compression within each word, the sort of different rhythems, the pauses. he is so creative at times that it gives me the willys. i mean waht the fuck is that - it's not singing. it reminds me of somethign liek this. weirdness coming out from everywhere.

An absolutely magnificent performance of Don't Think Twice. I've seen many, many Dylan audience recordings, but I think this one just about tops the lot.

Don't bail before the end or you'll miss the harmonica solo.

When I was young I loved this song, but now I think that it is more than a little self-centred, and sexist

Agree. I’ve been listening to Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid Soundtrack album and it’s beautifully done. Keep coming back to it. Really simple guitars with great melodies, poignant with a western tinge. Quite a few instrumentals and when he’s singing the delivery is so nuanced and different on each track and always just right.

the delivery on this is incredible. it doesn't matter that he "can't sing" when it sounds like this:

i mean i honestly don't know how anyone can not listen to that and realise the genius.

i also accept everyone is different with different tastes lol

I gave up bothering trying to convert anybody many years ago. Pointless. I just listen to Dylan with mates who love his music, or listen by myself. Listening with 'others' can lead to piss taking which makes you want to dislike people, when you really shouldn't over such a thing.

Another Dylan that I come back to and always kill’s me as being so complete, and perfect really, is It’s Not Dark Yet, off time out of mind. Sos, I’m crap at doing links. It’s like I’ve been sat down by an ageless wizard who explains how things are 🤣🤣. ((((BOB))))
