Lester Bangs on Joey Gallo, who was both the subject of a hero-worshipping song on Dylan's Desire LP, and a seriously nasty nasty piece of work:

A mutual liking of Bob Dylan is one of the reasons me and himself still enjoy (tolerate) each other’s company.
Desire and Live at Budokan continue to be especially dear to me for bout 40 years.
Just listening to Shot of Love as I didn’t recognise some of the track titles posted above, even though himself plays it a lot.

Love Desire. The live one gets a 2 star review on allmusic - not that they are always correct, it's all subjective - is it worth owning?

I dunno man (the style is catching) - the wordplay is more than a bit Dylanesque.
Aye, I would tend to believe Mr Z was just saying it as an excuse not to talk about it, given his general dislike of talking about old songs.

To live outside the law you must be honest.

krtek a houby - the Budokan double set (I assume that's the one you mean) has a strong feel of "it was the 70s" about it. But I've loved it for a long time, even if I could do without a few of the tracks (I never really liked "Forever Young" and esp. not in this version). AFAIK, the Zim went to Budokan under the duress of a contractual obligation to play the old hits. The live set was originally Japan-only, before Zim fans in the west started to pick it up on import.

Budokan was quite popular here, initially, tho slated in the States. At the time I thought it was (mostly) great, Bob trying to put a new spin on old classics. In retrospect, most of it doesn’t work.

Slowing down I Want You? No.

I’d say it’s definitely worth listening to. As you say, it’s all subjective. I bought it from my netball teacher when I was 15 and quite a few of the tracks were new songs to me at that time.
I listened to side 1 and side 4 over and over, and yet didn’t sicken myself, and still love hearing them.
This version of Mr Tambourine man would def be one of my desert island discs.

why does the man who incessantly complains about the size of his divorce payments keep finding new ways to monetarise his history? Good question.

Maybe he wants to stop touring, 100 shows a year is probably a bit much for an eighty year old.

I wouldn't say I was a fan or anything but for sure, there are more than a handful of songs I am always glad to hear (but I am an old, tedious folkie type so...and easily swayed by wordy stuff)

Just saw this on twitter fwiw. Obv David Crosby isn't in the same league as Dylan, but he still has a meaty back catalogue and you'd expect royalties to be pretty good too. But maybe not.

and maybe he just wants to retire and go fishing and not have to deal with any fallout cos the kids are arguing over who controls what and, and and...

The man appeared in Victoria's Secrets adverts, ffs.

In contrast to the models in said advert, I think 1, 2 and 4 from that list were already amply covered.
