What are you playing at the moment?

I'm going to guess that if you like Forbidden West then you'll probably like Zero Dawn. Though I do understand that one thing that changed a lot was the combat system, which is pretty broken in Zero Dawn. I found it boring. The background story is decent, but you pick up nearly all of it early on. Some of the main quest characters aren't too bad, but absolutely anyone not main quest is cardboard. And Aloy is schizophrenic or something, because she doesn't react in a consistent way to anything.

Never finished it. I may try FW when it comes to PC, just because the main reason I couldn't finish was the bored-to-tears combat and that's supposedly fixed. It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to fight all the time just fucking about and doing your thing. Surprisingly empty world outside of a few places, as well. I mean, full of things that want you dead, but not a lot else. Really beautiful on the PC though, I give it that.

But yeah, I have hopes the sequel feels less laborious and more like fun.

IME it’s best to play on the easiest settings, so battles aren’t challenging at all and you can pay attention to the story. Don’t think I died at all in both games, which is good for me as I’m not keen on repetitive play.

Yeah, HZD is an absolute beast of a game, shame you didn't play it first but not the end of the world...

This is really why I've got stuck into Deathloop first. Afterwards, Zero Dawn will be so different that ideally the step down from Forbidden West won't jar so much.

Also Xmas is coming and I've got Human Fall Flat for the boy, so I expect there'll be a fair bit of that coming soon...

The life and suffering of Sir Brante.

A narrative driven text RPG. You are born into a family of petty Nobels, but you are a commoner due to your Mum not being Nobel. There is some sort of religion that ordines that everyone should be kept in their "lots" and the lot of the commoner is serve and work hard. I'm planning to try and fully overthrow this and no doubt will fail badly.

It's really good so far and I am just about hitting my mid teenage years. Worth a look and is usual on sale for under £10.

I also played a bit of Democracy 4. The fun was trying to figure it out, but once I did I didn't have much impitus to actually play it properly. I think I'll have to go back to it at some point.

Trying to get back into a God Of War: Ragnarok. Gave up for a bit as one particular fight was too difficult. Was prompted to take it up again as I noticed there was a new DLC recently added - Valhalla.

Also downloaded that Power Wash thing mentioned earlier - did the first van and then deleted it. Too boring for me, not enough dopamine being released.

There’s a game out called Teardown that looks well up my street as I prefer destruction to tidying things up, but it’s PC only

So, Deathloop. The more into it I get, the more into it I'm getting.

But nobody here has played it? Well then let me recommended it

You're caught in a day-long time loop which you're trying to break. On a kind of sub-arctic island with four zones, your main job is to kill the eight 'visionaries' who hold the loop together. Each day is divided into four parts, and in each part of the day you can only visit one zone. At the end of each day, everything re-sets. However as a security measure the visionaries are all over the place and only accessible at certain times, so the main aim is to arrange reality so that they end up in the same zone and can all be got to. This involves a lot of work and cycles through the loop - and that's essentially the game.

It looks remarkable, the music is fantastic, gameplay is fluid and fun, the puzzles are compelling and at the risk of repeating myself it's the best description - the whole thing is trippy as hell.

Ooo! Red Faction meets Minecraft. I should try that.

Just finished Assassin's Creed Mirage which is er another AC game. Bit brief but good not having to spend days traveling from place to place or hunting animals to get resources to make a new pouch or something. Not much in the way of plot either.

Thinking about it, it's a bit underwhelming tbh. Creeping about assassinating people is still good though. There's a new thing where you can kill like 5 people at once which is kind of fun but takes all the challenge out of it in some ways.

Was going to go back and finish Horizon Zero Dawn but as Chz said, despite it looking very pretty and the plot being ok, the combat thing is dull. And there's fuckloads of it. I did get a long way in though so maybe worth going back.

Is Cyberpunk worth it on PS4? Also what actually is it?

Thanks for the info re PS5 btw, if I need the disc one, I'll be leaving it til next year £££££.

OU; God of War is great & well worth finishing (though not as good as the previous one I didn't think.)

Cyberpunk has got good. Pretty much all the bugs are gone and it's great now. It's another one of those "map full of icons" things but it works cos the story and setting are so good. I still need to finish it off but I had a great time with it

oh, I dunno about PS4. I played on PC, might be a bit creaky?

Anyone played Solasta? My gaming buddy who I do co-op with didn't seem too enthused so I might play solo. Picked it up for £8 but I'll probably refund unless it's recommended as good.

Cheers - picked it up from CEX and played a bit last night. Looks great; it swallowed 3 hours very quickly :D

Seems OK so far on PS4 (huge update files etc).

Thats how I found it on the old xbox when I started it in may. Huge update, long load and then ran perfectly, never crashed in the 100 hrs of play. You can see how it could have been great just wasnt ready when initially launched. Such a pity as a multiplayer would have been fun. The kid too was impressed and got it on their own setup to play (pc i think). Its got some quirks but if you like Blade Runner its a must.

The driving is abysmal though

Just stick with motorbikes and only drive a car when you have to.

the porsche is alright

Vampire Survivors.

Autofire robotron. Really addictive. Runs last 10 minutes (for me anyway). Kill hordes of enemies, before you know it it's 1am.

Got this yesterday. Definitely worth £3 or whatever it was that I paid for it. At first I didn't think I'd get it, but I've slowly picked it up and had some 15 minute runs whilst also learning how everything works. Pretty fun and great on the deck.

Also got Power Wash Simulator which is way better than I thought it was going to be.

I've just played through Horizon Forbidden West, its absolutely great fun. The very wokest thing I've ever seen, loved it. Flying mount, fuck yeah! Great combat system - no magic as such but there are so many different weapons and effects it doesnt matter. Beautiful everything, balanced and err credibly incredible fantasy/sci-fi combo. It made me buy Horizon Zero Dawn, which is now installed but not started.

That's because Deathloop is dragging me in now, it's trippy as fuck. Has anyone played it / loved it / solved it / hated it / quit?
Yeah, I played it and completed it when it came out. Absolutely loved it, its great when everything starts to fall into place. Ome of my top 10 of games in recent years!
