Veganism, new and old Vegans, info, support and recipes

Those burgers ain't bad at all. They carry that familiar protein/cereal taste but a lot more interesting than the usual stuff. And those cheeky Fry's 'chicken' burgers were a delight. I was transported back to my first ever McD type chicken burger with the lettuce and mayo. Having not been raised vegan or anything, I do have fantastical reminiscences of the stuff I loved before I went vegan a few years ago. And these stand-ins are brilliant for me. I largely cook from scratch so a sly bit of junk goes a long way in the satisfaction stakes.

The snitzels are quite nice, don't quite understand the mushroom serving suggestion on the packet though?

As somebody with Austrian grandparents I also take issue with that. Everyone knows that schnitzel should be served with fried potatoes, cucumber salad, tomato salad and green beans.

I've got quite into silken tofu recently. I made a pasta sauce from silken tofu / garlic / lemon / walnuts / nutritional yeast / basil last night which was lovely and thickened it up with some breadcrumbs to turn into pate for sandwiches today.

Better than normal tofu for scrambling too.

My other current fave is yellow pea flour, which is similar to chickpea/gram flour but a bit lighter somehow, makes fantastic omelettes.

Likely on the end of the aisle and clearly marked. Not sure the Indie understands what “plant-based” means, judging by that article.

So long as it's not dripping in blood from the slaughtered animal products, I like the idea of seeing veggie alternatives next to the dead flesh.

I guess it's not really much different from the plant milks on sale in the same isle as the dairy milks. That said, I'm certainly not relishing the thought of shopping in the flesh isle.

Y
HAS ANYONE TRIED THEM ON A BBQ YET!!!?
I THINK YOU'LL NEED TO PUT LIBERAL AMOUNTS OF SOME KIND OF FAT ON THEM.
I haven't put the No Bull burgers on a bbq yet, but last time I was at a bbq I took along Vivera, - fake steak found in Tesco. More expensive than No Bull at £3 for two and a bit on the small side but they worked really well, they held their shape and didn't stick, even the hardened meat eaters present admitted they were a decent substitute.
