Used shoes?

I got a pair of reasonably worn Altbergs 2nd hand and they're my best boots for walking and working. I didn't want to spend £180-190 on a new pair without trying an old cheap £50 pair for comfort first. This pair looks like they have a good few years in them yet.

Also picked up a pair of black brouges which were like 3 quid and hardly worn. They're a little too tight on me and I never seem to have a reason to wear smart clothes. They've become funeral shoes :(

Well new shoes are expensive, but I would rather not have second hand shoes if I could avoid it.

There was a story recently perhaps on FB about someone who gave his trainers to a homeless chap who didn't have any shoes and then walked away in his socks!

Me I have 2 pairs of leather shoes which have been resoled a couple of times each, and work black lace ups also resoled a number of times.

nogojones where did you get those shoes?
The Altbergs from ebay the shoes from the Sally Army shop

I just remembered I have a nice pair of desert style boots that a friend donated, sort of good when I need to do smartish casual- I seem to get quite a bit of donated clothing from friends and fam. I think they feel sorry for me as I can scruff right out unless they do an intervention with a bag full of donated clothing

currently, I have three pairs of shoes, two of trainers & a pair of boots.

all second hand.

the thing is, I walk everywhere and get through shoes quite fast. unfortunately I walk on the outsides of my feet so shoes wear unevenly and also bend out of shape.,

I'd struggle to purchase new.

I tend to buy cheap ones from tk maxx if I can't see any decent 2nd hand ones about, these would be for everyday use mostly.

I think its fine -long as you try them on first to make sure they don't have a funny tread from someone else's walking in them. Some of my favourite shoes and boots have been second handers, including a pair of really antique leather boots with tiny buttons. I draw the line at socks underwears and mattresses, those are the things you want new imo.

I have a penchant for daft animal print brothel creepers and seeing as they've stopped making the ones I like, I've bought second hand pairs and they were fine. I'm only going to buy ones that are in excellent, nearly unworn condition though.

No problem with 2nd hand shoes. Really find it difficult to understand why people do tbh.
Why how do they get donated in good condition , by the time I am done with mine they are pretty worn out. I suppose if someone passed away that might explain it..

Never bought 2nd hand shoes, Don't buy second hand clothes either, Primark my primary source of apparel is so cheap I don't see any advantage to it.

I'd rather buy good quality 2nd hand than shoddy disposable clothing.

Not to say I never shop in Primark but you can pick up good quality 2nd hand clothes that will last years

Good quality stuff for work or going somewhere that msy wife sets a minimum dress standard (in order for her to be willing to be seen with me) comes from M&S, stuff for more casual wear comes from Primark though recently I have bought a coat, trousers and hoodies from Costco which is reasonable both price and quality wise. Other than a pair of walking boots bought in Balloch and trainers all my footwear comes from Clarks and I tend to wear stuff to destruction.
You can probably guess that no-one has ever viewed me has a fashion icon.
The father of three girls I have more than once taken bags of clothes, shoes and bags that has barely been used to the local charity shop and the old dears that run it tell me that the least practical dresses and shoes are often the hottest sellers so clearly charity shops are patronised by a wide variety of customers and not just people who have to count their pennies.

I have quite a few pairs of Cydwoq and Trippen shoes and boots. My friends own a shoe shop so some of them I bought new but at least half are second hand off eBay. I only buy second hand shoes in excellent condition though.
Just checked, nearly all my Trippen are second hand.

I'm always a bit suspicious that they didn't get worn because they weren't comfortable.

OTOH I've had second hand army boots that have done me brilliantly for years as motorbike and hiking boots. Better not to think about the sweaty cadet who wore them first.

I'd mostly only go for lightly worn so as not to suffer from people's tread quirks.

On the third hand it behoves us all to go second hand when we can, considering the enormous footprint of the fashion industry.

Yes, I used second hand army boots on my motorbike. Probably not completely ideal because just thin leather over the ankles but fine otherwise.

Haven't worn them in a while, they need some polish / dubbin but I might start wearing them when out walking. Apparently modern walking boots are waterproof, I don't think my army boots will be but hey ho .. they are plenty comfortable.

I wouldn't stand in a lake in mine but have always found them sufficiently waterproof to splosh through puddles rather than tiptoeing round them. Current pair are German.
