US Civil War II - international reaction?

Lord Camomile

Yipchaa!
It's hopefully (hopefully!!) very unlikely to happen, but there's been various bits of chatter about the current situation leading to a second civil war.

Aside from the internal politics, I was wondering how the rest of the world would react. Would they ever get involved militarily or would that just be too precarious? Diplomatic condemnation from afar?

My ill-informed guess is that most would support the government, though you can see certain leaders - of both countries and movements - supporting an insurrection, either officially or on the sly.

I suppose it all depends on just what form the civil war took...

Russia would support the Trumpfederacy, China would support the Clinton-led rebels, the UK would sell arms to both sides while closing its doors to Pennsylvanian refugees.
You think the 'rebels' will be Clinton-led? Popular opinion seems to be any uprising would come from an alt-right unsatisfied with Trump's regime.

Seriously. people need to calm down a bit.

There is not goimg to be a civil war in the USA*

*not in the next 4 years

for now. Check again in 50 years (after The Third Great Mistake and depending on whether or not XBATTS is accepted and implemented and whether an attempt is made to fork Doctrine v.12.0.4.)

This a million times. Really today we've already had Trump repealing presidential elections, now there's going to be a civil war (between who?), this is loon stuff.

It there was such a war, it would likely be rather short given that the people on one side probably own about 95% of all guns.

I know this is a bit of a joke thread, but people are seriously overstating the significance of Trump's win and the authority he will have IMO. I'm getting a bit tired of it, from some of the stuff posted you'd think being president meant your evey utterance becomes law.

Obama promised to close Guantanamo Bay, but 8 years latter its still there.

FWIW I don't think there'll be a civil war either, but there will be lots of skirmishes, and the more the state wins them the more protest there's likely to be until something puts a stop to it. We could be heading for another Kent State.

Civil war almost certainly isn't going to happen, but a big increase in political violence isn't all that far-fetched a possibility in a country where 16,000 people are murdered every year.

I would predict a big uptick in White Supremacist terrorist activity which was already at fairly high levels especially if Trump fails to deliver. The Good Ole Boys will be smelling their best chance for a race war since the 60s.

It also follows that both the US and Europe trending towards the Far Right are juicier targets of opportunity for Salafi-Jihadis who would also like a Turner Diary's style environment.

I imagine it will largely go down as in Give Me Liberty, with Trump in full Erwin Rexall mode.

Yes, we are fast eliminating the grey zone.

If I was gonna wage a guerilla war against the government the US is where I'd want to do it. Vast, largely empty tracts of land. Mountain ranges, forests etc where you could hide out for years and even the drones couldn't find you. Easy escape routes to Canada.

And most importantly you'd never want for ordnance in a land where the very air you breathe is approximately 9% guns.

It's just struck me: The Walking Dead has gone with a storyline were a brutal dictator takes all the guns away (well they were registered) and Hillary Clinton failed to get elected to unman the nation. Sad!
