Half of the UK kicks off at the mere thought of the Trumpster coming to town, but meanwhile, Erdogan has slipped in almost unnoticed. You're putting on a full red carpet for him - meeting the Queen, Prime Minister, all in the name of selling weapons/jets. Shameful. The Kurds have been protesting and stopped the presidential convoy somewhere in the countryside today - would be nice if it wasn't just Kurds protesting.

Umm yeah I had noticed, but no-one seems to care really. I have a mate at work and all she seems to care about when she is there is all the sooper-dooper cheap deals you can get in knock-off designer stuff. I tried to explain to her once why I thought the way the country was going is bad news, but no, sooper-dooper deals. Oh well.

In today’s news from Turkey, a train crash has killed an unknown number of people. No one knows how many because the government almost immediately put a media ban on reporting. Initial reports say ten casualties but I’ve heard up to 60.

The daily Sabah, a government newspaper (well they pretty much all are now) has this story up: Recent major train disasters in Europe and US

People are very angry...
 
No but all reporting is blocked so that figure of ten comes from the initial government reports. The BBC guy isn’t even in Turkey at the moment.

Syria: Armed Group Recruiting Children in Camps

The People’s Protection Units (YPG), the largest member of the Syrian Democratic Forces military alliance in northeast Syria, has been recruiting children, including girls, and using some in hostilities despite pledges to stop the practice, Human Rights Watch said today.

Recent data from the United Nations showed a disturbingly high increase in child recruitment by the YPG last year. The armed group should immediately demobilize children in its ranks and stop recruiting children, including from families in displacement camps under their control. International law prohibits non-state armed groups from recruiting anyone under 18, and enlisting children under 15 is a war crime....

Possibly wrong section but Turkish economy looks to be in a grim spiral ( growth funded by cheap overseas cash basically) - Erdogan now appealing for calm/ being bullish and nationalistic- will there be some diversionary action to take the attention away from the hammered economy?

So now what? You (the PYD/YPG/J/PKK)helped kill the only thing that could keep you alive. You're doing classic racist car bombs against non-kurds. You got sold out like was always going to happen. What next pkk? What reflection now on the possibilities post kobani with the FSA you chucked away because you had US air support - impacting badly on both.

Not you. i meant that MP. It was ok to oppose the brits when it was some superficial anti-tayyip rhetoric. But when the turkish state remains it's all good isn't it? only islamist authoritarianism is bad. but kemalist or hard right one isn't.

The YPG might have been left out to dry but their whole popular front (Stalinist) politics dressed in anarchist garb. what are they going to do now? I still have people telling me that Rojava is multiethnic and represents suryanis, arabs and yazidis. let's ignore anything to the contrary for a second. do people really believe Assad is gonna allow an autonomous federal statelet to remain in Syria? How the fuck is it even gonna survive logistically anyway? Assad wants the oil fields that were previously under the control of the YPG. Let's face bloody facts ffs. What fucking planet are the antifascists on. its death by your own hand.
 
It's ok I didn't think you meant me. Talk on Twitter over the last few days of the Kurds inviting the SAA into the soon-to-be vacant position currently occupied by the Americans.
 
All the pro-YPG voices in the UK (many having never read anything on middle eastern politics) outside of outdated stalinist hackjobs, are using rakkah to browbeat us into submission using guilt trip rhetoric. come on. if there's one thing that Trump got right the other week was to pretty much admit that ISIS is a busted flush in syria. finished. rabble. Bet u lot Tayyip is gonna assist in giving idlib to Bashar.

In the meantime i have to watch this car crash of a farce watching some of my friends swallowing the antifascist shit hook line and sinker. preparing themselves to be killed. feel a bit sick tbh. oh well.
