Even if they aren't based on them, most Hollywood films feel like video games now, with interchangable plots and zero character engagement. Just pretend that they are based on games and they will keep you happy enough...

I saw Avatar when it came out and haven't seen it since. Some nice eye candy for its time as far as I remember, but otherwise formulaic dross.
