The contrast between the 3d landscapes and the 2d silhouettes that frame them. and then, then moving of those 2d planes, so the characters can move infront and behind each other. I was dazzled

Indeed. It's one of the very few 3D films that genuinely used 3D well, It was beautifully designed. That said, it's a little bit one note and not my favourite Pixar short.

The short film at the beginning (Night & Day) was also spectacular. Clever idea followed through with unrelenting creativity. Also remarkable for the very clever use of 3D. I doubt it would be as good viewed flat.

Yep, I thought the short film at the beginning was stunning.

Toy Story 3 was, of course, brilliant. That goes without saying.

This is very true. Spanish side of my family all love Fawlty Towers because of it.

Anyway back to this film...my eyes hurt by the end. I consider myself hugely cynical about the obvious emotional buttons being pushed but my god they did it in this film so well because its connects with something deep inside...not just the notions of loss etc but the way its done...I think it makes a lot of people relate to it far more.

I did not spot it at first but saw it from the IMDB trivia section. .

Saw last night, they fucked up the film right near the end, cue no sound for ten minutes, the film stopping for ten, the manager coming out apologising, then film re-starting. As we left we got told to keep our stubs as they can be used to see a film for free as a compensation...

Film was ok, not amazing...

I enjoyed this with my baby this week. I don't know if I was just particularly hormonal but I cried through LOADS of it.. got a bit sentimental!

Apologies for the minor bump, but finally got round to seeing this at the weekend. I was actually a bit ambivalent towards it as I'm 15 years older than when I saw the first film and it's a threequel, but I hadn't been to the cinema in a while, it was on early and there wasn't a particularly interesting alternative.

I'm so glad I went

I actually wasn't as big a fan of TS2 as everyone else (hence the reservations about 3, although I did still like 2), but this was bloody amazing. As has been said earlier, I think the fact that the timescale fits with reasonably well my own life (I was 10/11 at the time of the first film) made it hit home that little more.

Some of the scenes were surprisingly dramatic, particularly some noted above (spoilers...).

One thing I thought that helped the emotional aspect, was that there was genuine love underpinning most of the relationships of the characters, and a lot of the drama came from external sources, rather than simply characters not liking each other (even the likes of Lotso were simply having different reactions to the same emotions).

I always like to see this stuff again to see how it holds up to repeat viewings, but I thought much of the 'craft' was genuinely superb, and easily the equal of live action stuff. Shame I didn't see it in 3D, but when it's a question of free (Cineworld pass) or £15+ for the IMAX, capitalism wins out

I actually thought it was really average. I was really disappointed in the lack of laughs... the humour just didn't really take off
