Tog Rating for duvets?

well that's a whole other story - different places describe these things differently.. king size/super king size/queen size... someone just told me there's another size too...emperor or supreme commander or some such. It's a minefield I tell you. I'm tempted just to get the sleeping bags out.

just remembered... Caesar size! 8ft x 7ft 3in apparently (C+P)

There's Emperor size on here and it's 9ft 6inches

So that Amazon one - I just checked the website of the company selling it and it's LOADS cheaper on their own website  and in super-king... £169.95

http://www.viceroybedding.co.uk/pro...an-goose-down-duvet/pure-hungarian-goose-down

and even getting the Siberian goose down is cheaper.. £179.95

it's all so confusing!

It's more expensive on ebay, but there's better pictures (ie. you can see jacquard cotton cover etc.). The fill power is listed as 600 there

BTW: Hungarian Goose Down is superior to Siberian apparently

My pillow's Hungarian goose down. It's lovely, but maybe not filled enough as I need another pillow under it, but I have so much trouble sleeping without it's soft fluffiness :D

i got hungarian down for the duvet but went for siberian for the pillow.

the pillow is very nice

if hungarian is superior why is siberian more expensive?

I suppose for that price we could get some pillows as well... :hmm:

You need to consider first if you like firm pillows or layng-your-head-on-a-cloud-with-little-support-underneath type pillows

Also, a lot that claim to be 100% whatever, actually have a patial filling of something else (ie. goose or duck feathers), which in some cases is good, as it gives some firmness

I like a firm pillow underneath and a scrunchy one on top - which comes from my childhood habit of sucking my thumb and scrunching the (top) pillow - it's a comfort thing. See... told you I'm not adult enough for this... :D

I have a firm one underneath my goose down one but normally end up shoving it aside and doubling my goose down one over :D The firm one on its own is also goose down but with a feather core, but I find it too stiff

You could always go into a shop and lay down on some pillows ;)

synthetic fill pillows really collapse after a while. i have two that i got at the same time but one of them looks like a different pillow now. though part of this could be down to the length and settling.

Definitely. They go flat as a pancake, especially the ones that claim to bounce back. Not worth wasting your money on

I have two summer strengh king size duvets. At the moment one is on top of the other on the bed but come summer time that one will go back into the cupboard.

I meant by customer ratings. I can't figure out if they're the same company as Cuddledown US, which I've heard wonderful things about though  so never mind

The name reminds me of Snuggledown of Norway :D

You look at Argos and all the different brand names there and I bet most of them claim to be the best :D

Lack of ratings can just mean people prefer names they recognise rather than buying a name they don't know

I know what you mean, but in this case I think it's different. Similar to L.L.Bean, which is known all over for excellent quality products and customer service (I think all their products have a lifetime guarantee) U.S.'s Cuddledown (it's Cuddledown of Maine) is the kind of product people seem to go out of their way to recommend and rave about to anyone who will listen.
