Tog Rating for duvets?

tbf even at my ripe old age i've never had to buy a duvet  my mum got us one years back (king size so all the covers cost extra ) it's a cheapish feathery thing if that helps at all, has lasted us a good 15 years :) i work on having half-decent sheets and i'm rather a fan of blankets so the duvet gets stashed away in the summer and we have sheets/blankets/quilts then :)

I have a kingsize bed but I prefer a double duvet. Unfortunately, my sister forgets and buys be kingsize duvet covers :D

That makes four? It should only be two. Are you as bad at maths as I am?<snip>
1 winter weight on its own, + 1 summer weight on its own + the possibility of using the 2 of them together = 3 options, but 2 quilts.

Yes, I realise that. It's two duvets, but the way peter added them up, it seems nearer to four :D

oh thanks! Going to check that out now.

Remember that if you like weight over you in the winter, you may not get that with a goose down one.

Also, if you buy a very cheap all seasons one, you might not have anything that attaches the two and they may slip away from each other, so make sure you get one that attaches together

Get two thin ones. 8 tog or whatever. Easy then to just pull out an extra duvet, or for you to have a duvet each, or to have a duvet to use for houseguests, and they're usually small enough to stick in the washing machine.

aw. It will probably still work though? How much bigger is it than regular king size?

well that's a whole other story - different places describe these things differently.. king size/super king size/queen size... someone just told me there's another size too...emperor or supreme commander or some such. It's a minefield I tell you. I'm tempted just to get the sleeping bags out.

just remembered... Caesar size! 8ft x 7ft 3in apparently (C+P)

Well ok, the superking all seasons one is £400, but that's still cheaper than £1000 :D

Do you really want a superking though? Depends on how much you want it draping over the bed I suppose :hmm:

well i've just bought superking bedding so yes... i want superking. Definitely not spending £400 though... we've been given a £200-£300 budget.
