Thread about spiders (not for the arachnophobic!)

Just ordered a new rechargeable spider catcher, seeing as the onslaught has begun...

Hate to tell you this but I bought a vacume one and it was rubbish. Only worked with the very small ones, not enough suction for the big scary fuckers. The spiders just laughed at me :(

I got one simalar to this one below eventually and it works much better

You squeeze the handle and the end opens to catch the spider and then release and got the bastard

Vacuum one works for me, though you sometimes have to chase the spider around a bit & corner it. If the battery power drops, it can make catching difficult, which is why I ordered a USB rechargeable one last night. Caught this approx 3 inch fucker last night with the current one. (Thankfully that's about as big as they get in this house.) PXL_20230902_212949215.jpg

The traditional Ferrero Roche box and sheet of paper is far more efficient, cheaper, less damaging to the spider and you get to eat the chocks

Yeah but you have to get close up to the 8 eyed/legged beast to do the glass and paper method. Spider catchers allow you to keep to a safe distance

Maybe vacume technology has improved then. Still the squeeze and grab catcher works for me.

Sadly requires getting way too close and the possible fail of container and paper separating.

Its a simple and satisfying skill thats easy to learn, get in touch with your inner hunter. Then seeing the look of gratitude on the spiders face as it is released into the wild, joy sparkling in each of its little eyes

No chance :D

I guess it depends on your level of spider phobia but no way am i doing that!

Noticed a massive spider last night as I was about to go to bed. It was possibly 3cm across, it wandered up my wall, went momentarily behind my computer desk, which I didn't like, then re-emerged and continued up the wall eventually getting to the top and investigating the beams.

I watched it for a while longer as it eventually walked across a beam and disappeared.

Quite creepy.

Wouldn't want it too near me.

Massive wasp just hitched a lift indoors on my hat (they like the fennel by the polytunnel door but it's impossible to get past without crashing through it and disturbing all the insects). I was going to try and catch it to put it back outside but it lasted about ten seconds before an even bigger spider darted out of the window frame and dealt with it

Did a seagull then eat the spider and then go outside and get eaten by a cat. That would be perfect!

I'd love to have this chair

leather chair hanging from the ceiling designed like a spider, with legs protruding from the side.
