Thread about spiders (not for the arachnophobic!)

Spider people.
I have a question.

When I bring my tender plants indoors for winter, the resident spiders come with them. I don’t know if the spiders will be happy living in the warmth, or happier being outdoors.

Of course there are some insects indoors over winter, but far fewer than in the summer. Will they starve to death?

And it’s much drier indoors too. Will they succumb to dehydration?

But if I manage to catch them and put them outdoors, will the cold kill them?

Obviously this refers to different spiders and I couldn’t tell you what species are involved.

And anyway, when I try to catch them they do that weird disappearing trick spiders do : you think you’ve got them and by the time you get outside, they’ve gone invisible, they’re not there.

I’ve considered somehow providing them with a food source (fruit flies maybe?) but I’d also like to know: would they prefer to be warm, or stay outside?

I suppose they could work out how to go back outdoors if they want to?

I‘ve been surprised in the past by the navigational skills of spiders.
