Thread about spiders (not for the arachnophobic!)

Yeah, I can understand that. Although a lot of them seem to live in holes or their webs and dont move much

Yeah, i've a few of the pet hole variety myself. I think it's maybe just a personal thing with me that would prefer to give more space and have fewer tarantulas. I also fucking hate the plastic box homes he has on the left screen there, there's no room for burrowing.

Really sorry for the rant but i'm a miserable prick.

Aside from the setups, he's filmed this video to appeal to the side of the hobby that makes a big thing out of having tarantulas i.e "look at me. Aren't i cool having these vicious creatures. Look at them eat!" I don't understand the need for feeding videos as entertainment. There's a place for them as informative pieces for sure but you dub wanky music over the top and make what commentary you have as puerile and overacted as possible then it becomes clear that you're just appealing to people who don't have the tarantulas best interests at heart. Everything about that video is badly misjudged, from the music to the logo and the presenters general tone.

There are tons of good keepers out there and we get tarred with the same brush which is understandable given the reach of YouTube etc. Perhaps it might be time for others to give the opposite view and educate with feeding or keeping videos. You could do a banging 10 to 15-minute feeding video on a species and cover everything from the ideal setup, to how and what to feed etc and make it accessible for all.

(sorry, i'll stop moaning soon)

Look at this cute little weirdo

(Technically a harvestman rather than a spider, but still an arachnid)

This is interesting - developing artificial spider silk. The last couple of minutes of the video is an advert (from about 15 minutes) so there's not point in watching to the end.
