Thread about spiders (not for the arachnophobic!)

For quite a while there was a cellar spider in the corner of my wc (my bathroom and loo are separate).

It had 7 legs. It had had only 7 legs for a while.

The other night I spotted another cellar spider on 7-leg's web.

The next day there was an 8 legged spider on that web.

I went out today, and when I came back home, I found there is a much bigger 8-legged cellar spider on what used to be 7-leg's web.

It can't possibly have grown that much since this morning, can it? So I am assuming my bathroom is spider cannibalism central at the moment.

Wonder how big the next one will be, am half expecting to get up in the middle of the night to use the loo and find a tarantula lurking in the corner!!

That last bit is like my dream. What a wonderful surprise that would be.

a beautiful spider with irridescent green fangs and orange and black striped legs

In all my work in the back garden I haven't spotted a single one, but I disturbed a harvestman colony in the front garden today..

Probably no coincidence that it was no more than a metre from where I encountered this one 5 years ago.

EDIT:-

different species though ...

And also coincidentally it was noisy on both occasions ...

My best mate/pseudo sister, she also keeps tarantulas. Saturday and Sunday, her other half reported itchy skin....last night one of her cats jumped up as if in fright.....tonight the culprit was found on the side of her fridgefreezer. That's an adult female Panama Blonde tarantula that'd been wandering around for several days.

For the phobes

Many moons ago, a mate of mine called Tom used run a similar programme at the pet shop. He's great at dealing with all sorts of people and got quite a few over their fear of spiders.

Until the day I had a flash of genius.

I walked up the stairs to the large room where all the livestock is kept. I saw a middle aged woman shaking and crying but crucially being encouraged by Tom and by her family as she allowed a docile species of tarantula to walk over her hand. Tom spotted me and asked "she's doing really well isn't she?" To which I replied, "yes she is but what about that huge one behind her, about to bite?"

She leapt up, screamed and ran out the shop. I was banned from the shop for a short period. Totally worth it.
