Of course I have. And indeed I myself now use mainly Apple Pay. What I was regretting is that there are millions of people for whom there are significant barriers to doing that.Have you never ponder that, to eliminate cash is also to eradicate tax evasion, corruption, drugs trading, and many other wrong beaviours?
You may do as you please. Can I explain in a new thread why?
Particularly given that this thread has reignited since your OP, it seems that some posting on here could do well to read the original Ceeney report that you referred to:Of course I have. There are already ways to deal with the illegal activities you mention that don't come at the expense of law-abiding folk who need cash for legit reasons. Collective punishment is immoral.Have you never ponder that, to eliminate cash is also to eradicate tax evasion, corruption, drugs trading, and many other wrong beaviours?
Can I explain in a new thread why?
We do this anyway, but at the checkout. We load the conveyor built in the way we want to pack stuff and then take it off and load bags as required, chilled together, frozen together
fresh together etc. It is not difficult.
Only works if there's another customer still in front of you, otherwise things start disappearing off the end of the conveyor belt before you have arranged all your items in the desired sequence. We do this anyway, but at the checkout. Maybe"We" can't and 'they' won't.
Not sure why this thread has smoked out so many pro banker types?

Ah, where is the thread I can introduce myself...?

That makes sense - yesterday, I bought a pint of milk at coop for 50 pence and then handed over a brown envelope to Hitman Harry as a down payment on his next job
Just wondering who on this thread is the likeliest person to be keeping their entire life savings under their mattress in cash.
I have never listened to the archers but i kind of imagine that it's the sort of show where new fangled stuff like card payments would be unthinkableA character on the Archers last night mentioned that she’d given her brother some money to go to the bar - they were in a pub - and he came back with her change: I thought the thread would be pleased to learn this
shame on youI have never listened to the archers but i kind of imagine that it's the sort of show where new fangled stuff like card payments would be unthinkable
