The dog thread is better than the cat thread, because it features dogs.

It feels like the first real autumn day today and the boys are certainly reluctant to leave the warmth of the kitchen.

Boo in particular was sitting next to the stove when I came down this morning and since then had only shuttled between bench and food bowl all day. Normally, he at least gets the exercise of going up the stairs to bed.

The other day she fell asleep in a plant pot

Larry was waiting around while I ate Macaroni Cheese and definitely wanted to lick the plate clean, NO WAY says I Macaroni Cheese is NOT dog food! Then I ate a Muller Fruit corner and he wanted that .. is there nothing this dog will not eat?

Bearded collies?

I saw a beautiful beardie today. I really wanted to stop the car to give it some love but people will probably think I’m mad if I do that. 😄
Them and golden retrievers are my favourite dogs. Neighbour had a lovely beardie, had so much character - used to disappear off round the valley and reappear a few hours later. Had puppies from dogs all over the valley :D

I adore them, they have such lovely characters. Although my two naughty beardies (plus Lucy) had a young fox cornered in the garden earlier with Mr Looby trying to help him escape. Poor thing.

When we were camping recently we met a Leonberger called Mishka who was absolutely stunning. I had a good fuss with him and his coat was incredible. Je would fill my house but oh my god I was in love.

I also met a lovely labradoodle called Teddy but nothing could top lovely Mishka.

I'd wouldn't half be tempted to get one in the future - but I doubt even an oldish one (which is what I'd be looking for) would ever come up as rescue. There's fewer of them about nowadays :( .

It doesn’t happen often which is great obviously. It would be good to have some more beardies, I’d be so sad for the breed to die out.
You sometime get cross breeds turning up at Dogs Trust etc There are a couple of beardie rescues who run a list. People will tend to go to them if they need to rehome if the dog isn’t returned to the breeder which is often in the puppy contract.

Pepper’s dad was a bearded collie, mum a greyhound…

hello,
I met this absolute unit of a good boy today - slobbering all over my keks here:

the person with the dog was very odd, behaving and looking. which is no crime, but that’s a rare breed - I think it’s an American XL Bully and they’re often trafficked for fighting. any advice to follow up on this? it could be perfectly legit, but i sensed something off about it

You can only really talk to the RSPCA. The options beyond that are limited, I’m afraid.

There’s probably someone posting on an American Bulldog Owners forum, that they were a bit nervous about some weird bloke in red trousers paying their dog too much attention.
