The Cure

The setlist geek bloke just tweeted that they did 'Faith' in the encore last night. High hopes for this gig later this year now. :)

I'm on the train to Cardiff to see them tonight.

There's a bunch of teenagers sat opposite who look to me like they aren't old enough to be out on their own, they'll catch their death dressed like that etc.

They're going too. I feel like a proud Dad.

someone just contacted me with an offer of two seated tickets for wembley on sunday, irrp £160... theyll take £50 for the pair, anyone fancy it ?

Yes please, I wont sell them on. I've seen them a few times and one last time would be great. PM me please.

Soz had to edit that a few times.

Totally ace in Cardiff last night. Robert Smith is battling a sore throat and had lost his voice earlier, not that you'd know. Weirdly, he sounded croaky talking between songs but sounded great singing.

They're just playing everything you'd want to hear on this tour. Loads of 'Disintegration', some lovely old '17 Seconds' stuff. I'd never heard 'At Night' live before, that was great. The new stuff's right up there. 'Endsong' in particular would be at home on 'Disintegration'. Fucking great song.

1st encore had Faith going straight into A Forest and that was worth the entrance fee alone. Absolutely loved every minute of it. :)

Was at Birmingham. They were just awesome. Three Imaginary Boys, A Night Like This, A Strange Day, Primary, Charlotte Sometimes and two of the newbies (Alone and the magnificent Endsong) were all unforgettable. Robert's throat was really bad but he ploughed on and helped out by the crowd for the final encore. They played for 2 hours 45 minutes, were supported by the brilliant Twilight Sad and were so good I almost forgot I was at a gig in the horrific Arena. We'll never see their kind again.

Yeah he said he might need to rely on us by the end, too. As it turned out, his voice sounded as good as ever. They'd chopped the set around a bit so he had songs that were a bit kinder to his throat. He apologised for this as they're all the gloomy ones, apparently. Suited me, tbf - they're the ones I like the most. :D

That 'Endsong' though, with the screaming guitar at the end, eh? Fucking hell.

I’d heard Endsong before the gig, but live it just floored me. Alone also. The new album looks like it’s going to a (delayed) classic. Definite Disintegration vibes.

Glad his voice held out for you. I have to say it’s one of the best, if not the best, gig I’ve ever been too in an arena. The sound, the lighting, the visuals were all spot on.

With you on the gloom. We arrived in the dark and on one of the coldest nights in Birmingham for a long time. No music between bands just the sound of pouring icy rain. I loved it..

I'm sad I've never seen them as I was obsessed with them, pornography especially and Robert Smith. I've never fancied seeing anyone play in a stadium. But maybe I should give it a go?
Yeah an arena's the smallest you're going to get these days, really.

Maybe they'll do some more outdoor gigs next summer.
I've always hoped they'd do The Eden Project down here - a local journalist I know reckons they came pretty close to getting them when they did Glastonbury the last time.

That would be ideal!

If you get the chance just go. Doesn’t matter where. I hate arena/stadium gigs too but it’s the only way you’ll get to see them. I’m hoping that the new album will finally see the light of day next year and that we might get another tour.

Anyone go last night? They didn't hold back. Second encore was ten songs:

I went to the second night on Monday. It was good.

I see they finished with Killing an Arab too last night. Only time they've played it this tour. I'd have loved to have seen that.

So, finally, the new album is coming (1st November). It’s been brilliant to see the promo to date for it - so far, a poster stuck up on the wall outside the pub where they played their first gig together and some postcards to fan club members.

I’m almost looking forward to the winter now….
