It was great as ever, they were fantastic. They played a good mix from all the eras pretty much. The things I didn't love were: the Arena - no cloakroom and the crowd were odd. Lots and lots of very young people which is great but lots didn't seem to know the music and certainly don't know how to gig. They just stood there, many with phones in the air, not in the moment, staring at their screens. They were very unwilling to let people through to the front and there was no mosh pit!! Weird to say the least. I did lots of jumping around and shouting in between songs and the younguns didn't know how to react. Sad really. How was it Maharani ?
The 30th and 31st song from Thursday night - the classic final encore of 10:15 and Killing An Arab
there was no mosh pit!!
I know. Telling me!
Yeah the band have got to be really good to get over Wembley Arenas shitness. I was lucky when I saw The Cure there - I was only three rows from the front. I got told off by a steward for fucking dancing there once though. Blur, during Song 2 ffs, wtf are you supposed to do during Song 2, remain seated? Anyhow The Cure were good from about 20 foot away and everyone was on their feet so I didn't get any bother that night. The things I didn't love were: the Arena
Had a period of The Cure being my fave band for a while, mid-late teens. Saw them at Birmingham NEC in 89, then in 1990 at Crystal Palace Bowl (I moved to London that day; came down with my mates on the coach with a bag of clothes and cassettes and didn't go back), and saw them in 1992 in Bradford, first night of the Wish tour which was also Bob's 33rd birthday (it's quite a sight - and sound - to hear hundreds of Cure fans singing Happy Birthday in as Robert Smithy a fashion as possible)
Some terrific records, was playing Head on the door and Faith only t'other day
Actually I did see em at Glastonbury 1990 (my memory is so shit) (Apparently I saw Neneh Cherry in the early 90'stages but no memory) I remember cus someone had to be airlifted out of the audience - that's all I remember -but I was really high.Pornography is my fave- but have difficulty listening to it - painful teen depression- takes me right back there, as does joy division. I never saw them live but had a huge crush on fat bob.
When I was 14 I sent him some vitamin pills- he was looking really peaky! I also cut his initials into my fore arm- still there
First saw them in 1979, when he was a mere slip of a lad. Utterly shocked a couple of years later when he emerged on stage with the hair, the lippy and the fat suit. Of course they were still utterly brilliant, but it felt so...rock. And a bit sad. Hard to explain.
Already happened, but you can still watch it. Band come on stage about 16 mins in.Live stream from the Sydney Opera House tonight.

You saw them last night of the UK leg of the Disintegration tour. 34 songs! I saw them a few days earlier at Birmingham NEC, 32 songs. Amazingwent to them in 89 at wembley arena, last day of the world tour, said they knew 50 songs , played them all iirc , they were ace
Then saw them at the Albert hall circ 2005 , not nearly as good
I'll have to try and squeeze Just Like Heaven in there somehow, and Jumping someone else's train.I don't get the hatred for Lovecats - it's a great pop song.
My top 5:
1. A forest
2. Why can't I be you?
3. Primary
4. Hot Hot Hot
5. Lovecats
Thank you , maybe not 50 but wonderful still
The nearest to a great album was 'Head on the door.' With the Cure it's more the collective body of work, which is a wonderful thing, there's something for everyone.
