The Brixton Citizenship Test

Sainsbury's. It had a magnificent black art deco-y panel above the ground floor level. Or one of those shops did. It was the last shop before the bridge, and the bridge had a sticky out bit underneath which housed a Ravel shoe shop.I can't remember what was right next to the station, now Smiths.

Are you thinking of Dunns and Colliers by the bridge?

Long-time lurker, find this forum's a good source of local news. Just tired of being demonised 'cause I'm
a) young
b) not originally from London
c) a Brixton resident of a mere three years
d) have a job, therefore, I assume, a 'professional'
stop lurking and come and play! You'll get comprehensively kicked in the head a few times (my discussions yesterday were memorable...) but you aren't demonised if you are a person. You get demonised as a faceless other. I like to believe I'm young, (I'm not young), I am not from london, 3 years ago I was probably still telling outsiders I lived in oval :)facepalm:) and I am fully employed. Everyone has been remarkably nice to me*

*apart from the head kicking, tho, tbh, I'm growing to rather like it :hmm:

And since you posted that as your very first post on urban, you can be sure of a warm welcome; here come the locals to light the pyre...

I dunno. It has a shrine in the back right corner on the floor underneath the tinned goods. I love that place. It always feels like I stumble across it :hmm:

they sell potato and mustard crackers that are just gorgeous

I think most Chinese, Thais and others have spirit houses in the shops and homes. I tend not to notice the smell of Durian and when I do, I actually don't mind it, it's sort of comforting
