Strike!

I'm confused.
Are all the votes across all the unions merged?
I'm guessing that because RCN have the biggest membership amongst NHS nursing staff - that's why the unison vote has been has eclipsed over all ?

I don't how it works in nursing, but in local government there are three unions (Unison, Unite and GMB) and if two out of the three unions accept, the deal is accepted, in other words the votes aren't aggregated across all unions.

Yeah, it's complicated, and very boringly bureaucratic kalidarkone. Unison has more members than other unions I think.

I think it depends on something like that above that andysays wrote; and what the other unions vote in part, and then if it's not clear it can go to the NHS Staff Council (who's chair is the Unison head of health...). There's a fair amount of unknowns though, if the government takes the offer off the table then it could all go to wider strikes even. The government can also force it through and say no more negotiations, which would call the unions bluff a fair bit about what to do.

Also, it's all so rare that there's a fair amount of confusion and uncertainty so not 100% sure of the above, and neither does anyone else. Channel 4 news have just done a bit on it that was complete bollocks including some nurses getting the pay rise if they voted for it and some not if they didn't.

No convo about the current Junior doctors strike?...too fucking embarrassed

Still nothing from you _Russ_ about what embarrassment you mean. And have you actually looked back at this thread and the other one to see the discussions that have been had yet? Or do you have anything useful to contribute on the topic yourself?

Few stories about the current GMB Amazon strikes:

...Many of the vocal Posters in here are middle class grads or at least associate with the same class as junior doctors, they know full well that the junior doc's 35% request is taking the piss but flagging that up is rather embarrassing for them so even when the junior doc strike was ongoing they sort of left it alone and largely carried on talking about strikes of the past/future.

Its quite blatant, I'm not at all fooled by the large 'lets pretend we are socialists' contingent in here

You have absolutely zero evidence to back up anything you claim here. Moreover I have provided you with evidence from actual doctors in the tweets I posted of the crippling debt they are saddled during the course of their studies and the real terms wage cuts they have had to put up with over about the last 10 years or so. You have had plenty of opportunity to debate or refute that evidence but you have offered nothing. Why is that?

So youve got nothing, but a vivid imagination

The UCU marking and assessment boycott starts today. It's the nuclear option and it usually forces management's hand (except in the case of QMUL and even their SMT is being dragged through the courts over their use of scab markers and 100% deductions).
