Sporty little car

I forgot Morgan, Morgan are for dedicated British gentlemen - gammons - who wish that they were living their life in 1940 and instead of driving a grossly expensive, laughable tricycle were bravely piloting a Spitfire, and so do we because if that was the case their life expectancy would be four weeks.

Your R53 might not be complete shit but as soon as the first hint of satisfaction creeps in it'll go pop and we can laugh at you.

its already dead someone ran into it around a month ago

currently car hunting and trying to stop meself buying another

whilst going Meh at anything close to it

Sporty little cars are not the most reliable motors but the mini was not terrible

Smart Forfuckssake or whatever are what you buy if you didn't already possess the deathwish fortitude to buy a Caterham, but you will thereafter regret this and bemoan how you can't even successfully kill yourself in something with much less acceleration potential than a glacier.
Or if you don’t care about powerful acceleration.

Or, tbf even a couple of grand so I could get a cheaper one.
Genuinely tiny convertible that has curvy lines and doesn’t care about going fast. It couldn’t be more perfect.

This one?

Sadly, it's a fun compact with no relevance to Great Britain, according to the managing director of Honda UK, David Hodgetts.

'It's simply too small for our market,' he told CAR during the recent Geneva motor show. 'Our research suggests that UK customers wouldn't find enough space in the Honda S660 for it to be viable.'

:(

Funny seeing this thread again after all these years as I may be after a sporty little car again. Basically my Chimaera 500 has to go. The ULEZ comes into effect next year and the thought of paying £12.50 just to start it really irritates me.
Plus my wife hates it as it's noisy, far too hot and makes her shout to get out on most trips out in it. :D

Two routes to go down for a petrol-head like me, modern which leaves me only a few options for cars I like: F-Type Coupe being one.

Or the pre-1980 classic route (more favourable for the eventual move to the sun), looking at MGA, Austin Healey 3000, 60s Mustang, or stretching to an XK150 Coupe. All imported from California, so LHD.

If I was sensible, I'd be looking at a Boxster or Z4, but I'm not sensible. :D

I keep checking prices on these things and see amounts like £3,000 and I think 'ooh that's not bad', and then I see it's for a kit to convert the car to something else :(

i keep checking this thread hoping that the last post is linking to a smart sports-type car that's actually available for a reasonable price in the UK

There's lots of stuff out there. There's MG F, early MX5, Astra G and H coupes, Hyundai coupes etc. Loads of stuff at low prices. The ones I listed are from less than 2k, there's even Audi TT from about that price.

My brother's in the process of doing this. He's bought a rusty old MX-5 which he plans to use for weekend fun until it fails its MoT, and then turning it into a kit car will be a winter project for him and his older son.

Oh definitely. There are a great many things I'd buy first if I had the money to do so, and in general I agree about Morgans being cars for old farts, but there's something about the 3-wheeler that's so ridiculous I can't help liking it. Mine would be without the silly RAF decals and fake bullet holes though!

Interesting.

Those Nissans leave me cold unfortunately.

Far more interested in getting something old again to be honest. :)

I've just bought a 2006 SL55 AMG sight unseen. Fucking loads goes wrong with them apparently.

Toying with the idea of a 6 speed manual swap using the aforementioned 370Z bits.

tis now pissed off being chasing a 2005 cooper s all week and getting fob off with until we put up pictures its not for sale yet

pop up this morning and now if fucking sold

erk. looks like i have agreed to buy an old sporty little motor for , quite frankly, fuck all money in the big scheme of things. I have not told mrs NBE either. Insurance is a ton and a half a year as for some reason it is now considered a classic. I keep telling myself its worth more in parts. Pics to follow. an you guess what it is yet ? as rolf harris used to say. I am looking to use it for E Blok urbex but have the fear that it will die at the side of the road. Pics to follow
