"Will this be the key that unlocks the swiss vault"
as kevin keegan famously said - "there'll be no siestas in madrid tonight!"

I think france are going to get knocked out as well tbh. They were fucking shit.
But they dont have Zidane who was basically the reason why they were good.
I think germany are going to go on and and win the whole thing.

EC 2004 Greece,
knocked out 1st rnd 2006
Based on one game? Bad thinking .... most of the teams that win it have indifferent starts, or at least one bad game that they're lucky to win in the knock-out stages.
In 2006, Italy (the winners) drew 1-1 with the States in their group and were exceptionally fortunate to beat the Aussies 1-0 in the second round. France (finalists) drew two of their group games against Switzerland and South Korea.
In 2002, Brazil played rubbish against Turkey in the semi as I recall and scraped a 1-0 win.
In 1998, France needed extra time to beat Paraguay 1-0 in the second round.
1994: Italy were runners-up having scored only two goals in the group stages and finishing third in their group, having famously lost to Ireland.
Perhaps most famous of all is 1982. Italy drew all three group games, again scoring two goals, before playing some of the greatest games of all time on the way to the final.
Best example of a team with a flying start that then falters is from 1982 as well - Hungary smashed El Salvador 10-1 in their first game but were eliminated from their group.
There is a lot more football to be played yet, so no-one should despair about the paucity of goals so far.
Cheers, Statto.

As many people have said - how you finish the tournament is more important than how you start it.
im still holding onto hope that italy wont make it despite the easy group.

they look quite average.
