I'm missing Istanbul and my cat and my friends. I have banking to sort out as well as all my possessions there, so that would be my first stop.
Then Wales.
Then Wales.
The town itself is a great weekend away. We were there 6 nights, which is too long for Avignon itself (you could "do" the whole place in a day if you needed to), but we did day trips out of town to Villeneuve-les-Avignon, Pont du Gard & Chateauneuf du Pape and Arles & the Carmargue. All highly recommended. Decent bars, decent beer, decent food - finding places to eat for veggie mrs mx was easy, and there's plenty of cheap eating options. I'd go again, except that we normally go "somewhere different".I remember going through it on the way to Marseille. Never been to the town itself, is it a nice spot?
That's a sort of double like!Hong Kong and Scotland are top of the list - longer term, I want to go to Taiwan and/or New Zealand to witness a strange alternative reality where authorities managed to get the pandemic under control early on.
This evening I started applying for NZ citizenship. Don’t plan on moving there yet, but would like a passport as insurance just in case.Hong Kong and Scotland are top of the list - longer term, I want to go to Taiwan and/or New Zealand to witness a strange alternative reality where authorities managed to get the pandemic under control early on.
Out of interest (and I'm not thinking of going there) do you need a skill that they need? This evening I started applying for NZ citizenship. Don’t plan on moving there yet, but would like a passport as insurance just in case.
it costs a bit over £200 but I reckon that’s worth it for peace of mind
I’m eligible for citizenship cos of family. Just as well as I don’t have skills or professional qualifications - not sure what the rules are about that tbhOut of interest (and I'm not thinking of going there) do you need a skill that they need?
Or is it just "your prime minister is clearly better than ours, so can I come and live there"?
Not sure that my work skills would "transfer" tbh.I’m eligible for citizenship cos of family. Just as well as I don’t have skills or professional qualifications - not sure what the rules are about that tbh
puts hands over ears and starts singing lalalalalalala trying to block out the noiseAgadoo is your friend
There's a nice outdoor swimming pool you can go to.I remember going through it on the way to Marseille. Never been to the town itself, is it a nice spot?
Had New York & The Grenadines lined up for July, reality called and that's been dropped for Crete.
It’s a very pleasant part of the world. Strangely, we haven’t made it to Arles yet but stay in Uzes, St Remy de Provence, Aix and Nice. The Camargue beaches are some of my favourite. Like a moonscape where you can cycle out a couple of miles then not see anyone else all day except for the odd bollock-swinging nudist. Avignon’s ok but like you say, more of a day trip or weekend place. We’re planning to go the other way next ... Montpellier, Sete, Beziers, Narbonne. The town itself is a great weekend away. Guyana so that the boy can meet his family.
Munich in the summer so that the boy can meet his family and have summer fun in Bavaria.
Tuscany so that the boy can meet his family and enjoy Italy for a few weeks.
Interesting, why do you think Crete more likely than NY?
Absolutely not. The plane is going to fly with or without you. You owe it to the climate to fill any potentially empty seats on the aircraft to reduce the average emissions footprint per person on that flight. If it still bothers you, you can join one of my famous emissions sharing schemes (I bought a big car this year so teuchter is going to have to cut back on his heating) and I'll pair you up with one of the wallies so you can drive and fly as much as you like.Does anyone feel bad about going on aeroplanes cos of global warming? I’ve not had much opportunity in my life but probably will from now on but think I’m gonna feel guilty.
My brother is vegetarian and cycles a lot and I think has only been abroad once to Spain in 20 years, does he count?Absolutely not. The plane is going to fly with or without you. I dunno why I feel guilty about emissions I just do. It’s a ballache cos my fella lives in upstate New York and flies all over the world, and this makes me uneasy thinking about the polar bears.
Planes rarely crash in the Arctic and when they do the chances of hitting a polar bear are very slim. Even slimmer now the icecaps are melting, chances are they’ll crash in to the sea
