I don't think Lovatt will have gone back to Bromley, they released him at the end of last season before he came to us as a triallist.

Hak suggested Jallow is joining someone at the lower level of our league, so I'll look out for that in the next week or so. Unfortunately we can't have non-contract players dual registered with Step 4 clubs (unless they're in Southern League) like we could when we were in a different league, so with no development team of our own we're going to struggle to keep hold of the side salads without them wanting to leave for more game time.

Jack Ruddy, Miquel Scarlett and Hussein Siklawi have all been released:

Just wondering what’s the most number of registered players the club has had in a season?

I wonder if this will result in one or two players from that list HH had at the forum joining in the next few days.
We only have two specialist centre backs now, so I'll be surprised if we don't bring in a third shortly. Gyebi looked very solid against us for Hungerford at the end of last season and when we signed him I got the impression he was lined up to be first choice with Chambers, with Tumkaya as back up. Then Hak said he had the unexpected opportunity to bring in Parry, an experienced player he'd previously worked with at National League level, and Gyebi never really got a chance after that nasty head injury at the end of pre-season. I'm guessing (like most of those announced at the start of pre-season) he was under contract, but Dougui (like most of those who were initially traillists, or have joined since the season started) probably wasn't. It seems clear Ming has fallen out with Hak, and is presumably under contract, but his departure hasn't been announced and there's been total radio silence from the club.

See you Sanchez. This is no massive surprise. He was one of my favourites though.

What, no “I look forward to following their careers” cut and paste quote…? 👜

The memory of his playing on that night in Tooting exile with what looked like a dislocated shoulder will live long with me. Reminded me of Suarez; “an absolute bastard but our absolute bastard”.

'Sanchez first signed for the club in 2016 before departing midway through the 18/19 season' is also incorrect too.

He first joined in 2009 and played that season. He then rejoined in 2011 and played that whole season too, missing a penalty in the playoff final.

Disappointing that a good servant to the club has these spells overlooked on the article.

My favourite moment from that game was winning a throw in near the opposition corner while attempting to close down the game. An opposition player tried to hurry things along by throwing the ball to Sanchez to take the throw. Sanchez simply let the ball hit him, shrugged with his good arm and walked slowly away. One of the very best!

It’s a shit article. Fair enough the current manager clearly doesn’t want him. But someone who’s played that many games deserves accuracy and a quote at the least - if the manager can’t bring himself to not be so petty as to not do it, then the chairman should. And if he won’t then a supporters rep should be given the chance.

Very poor from the club. Even if it’s ended badly on this occasion, Ming has been an important player to the club across multiple spells dating back close to 15 years.

To barely recognise that contribution is one thing, but to include fundamental errors in such a paltry write up is shocking. Probably worse than continuing to ignore his situation altogether.

I wouldn’t expect kwardgk to know 15 years of club history off the top of his head, but I would hope someone on the Board would want to make sure it’s done properly.

Though there were so many memorable Sanchez moments on the pitch it was off the pitch my memories are going to strongest. Was chatting in the bar about how I thought he was a better winger than full back. Sanchez must have overheard for the next moment I was some severe earache. The years certainly proved me wrong!! The second is much more important and shows the measure of Sanchez as a human being. Not long out as trans I had popped down to Champion Hill for some filming “If anyone at this club gives any problems, just point them in my direction and I’ll sort them out”. We will miss you big time Sanchez.

It’s like reading one of those off the shelf references that a company gives because it has too.
The two previous player departure statements contained practically identical “bye and good luck” quotes from the manager. We all know how this works, and no one expects Shakespeare, but it doesn’t take much effort to make it look like more than three seconds’ thought went into something.

Could just have googled Sanchez Ming and read the top article from the club’s site though…

That's quite a glowing testimonial from Hak in that article. Sanchez also started every game this season until the FA Cup tie at home to Haringey, when he gave away a needless stoppage time penalty that ultimately cost us a place in the next round. Clearly there was a big falling out as a result of that, beyond just being dropped, as he was never seen again despite right back remaining a weakness for us while several different candidates filled the position.

It was needless and it did result in their goal, but I’d say the draw that day owed far more to the side’s complete and utter inability to play anything like an average standard of football for more than three seconds at a time… He was no worse than anyone else that day, he just concentrated his poor performance into one instant rather than spreading it out over 90 minutes of shite. If I was a cynical manager looking to distract from such an abject performance I’d jump at the opportunity to scream “look at that bad challenge over there” rather than have a discussion about why I’d presided over such a terrible showing.

It’s a huge shame if that’s his last act at the club. Hopefully it isn’t and he’s given a testimonial that 275 games deserves.

I think it's fairly clear there's more to this than the manager looking for a scapegoat.

Only 4 players have ever been awarded a testimonial by the club. I doubt any club would ever award any player a testimonial for 275 appearances over 4 separate spells, none of which lasted more than 3 years, unless there was an unfortunate background like a career ending injury.

275 may not be much historically but 27 counts as long-term with Hamlet these days. So I think the bar may be coming down…

That statement makes no sense. Of courdr he cost us that game as despite an abject performance we would have won without that stupid needless challenge. He was clearly sent on as a sub to help see out a win. He then gave away a ridiculous penalty for an unnecessary tackle on a player going nowhere in stoppage time. In my opinion he was entirely to blame for the team not getting through to the next round. Not the first time I’ve felt his lack of discipline let the team down

Liam two things can be true. The team can have played shite all game and he can have committed a foul that cost a pen that cost a goal. If one of those things were different the outcome would have been different. You can blame it on the foul, or you can blame it on the team being utter garbage all match and not creating any chances of note at home against very limited opponents. I personally choose the latter - there should have been no need to be in the position to be having to hold in to a one goal lead, a decent team would have been out of sight. But if you prefer the “player kick other player, we don’t win, player bad” explanation then by all means choose it and I hope you have a nice day for it.

If the club gives a testimonial to someone after 275 games many players are owed an apology. Sanchez was a good player but not a Hamlet legend. Thank you and I wish him well in the future but... He did deserve a better write up but I suspect we are between generations of officials and 2 + 2 didn't equal 4.

Think of all the players who played 200 odd games in the days clubs played far less matches per season. Doddy Wight and Badger Knight are genuine club legends and probably did more than 275 despite the shorter season then. Who remembers them now?

I know BIG is now banned but for clarity I am here now due to sleep apnea not a night boozing.

In this case I do prefer to blame the player and I have reasons for that in this case. It was one of many occasions I have been left non-plussed about that players actions late in matches that defied any logic and could at best be described as lacking discipline and failing to follow even a basic set of instructions from management. Undoubtedly a good player but a divisive figure prone to irrational behaviour.

I think we can safely say there is more to this than meets the eye. Is the club going to break down all that went on NO, it's not our style.

I do agree that the send off could have had a bit more bunting and streamers but we are where we are.

The one thing that is a fact, prior to recent times Sanchez gave everything in the pitch and this shouldn't be forgotten.

I wish him well in his future endeavours.

Would be genuinely interested - not in a continuing the row way just in a nerdy stats one - to know the number of games played for the club by players leaving. Suspect Sanchez would have the highest total since the leavers from the last promotion side…? And as you say I suspect hitting say 300 was much more common 10,20,30 years ago than now and it’d be interesting to see that. Is that publicly available anywhere?
