The bathroom got photo'd/video'd by the people we commissioned it through:

Discovered this week to no surprise that our connecting water supply pipe (about 15m) is lead, so considering getting that replaced - they use a 'mole' now to burrow through and avoid digging a trench through the garden.

Stunning, but ya bog roll is too far away! Unless you're Mr tickle?

I need to know more about the cats. I thought you had a black cat but now I'm confused. Can we have some more pictures of cats in the various rooms. Thanks.

We have a black cat, Poirot. He is a sensible cat. Well, almost.

(old house)

We also have another cat, Hastings. Hastings was a very regal cat.

He is also a VERY STUPID cat. He rolls around in dirt and seedy plants. He gets extremely matted and won't let us sort him out. So now he looks like this:

Poor Hastings.

When I moved into my Berlin flat a bit over a year ago, the first thing I did was to strip the woodchip wallpaper, which comes standard with almost every German flat. The next thing I want to do is to replace the laminate flooring with wood, but I currently have no money.

Depends on the units and cupboards. When done well, aluminium is awesome. When done not so well, it’s not so good...

Nice! My missus approves. I like the way the radiator's blended in too.
Thanks :)

Deciding how to paint walls with picture rails...I vaguely remember having a conversation on here years ago & I said white above/white woodwork/colour below. Someone called me old fashioned and I felt vaguely affronted. I completely agree now though.

Miss Caphat and 5t3IIa - sorry
:D

You're wrong :D

I don't know why but you have to do white above then a colour below. It looks neater and better for some reason. There is/was this thing for doing the whole thing a matt colour from floor to ceiling (and sometimes the ceiling too). It's really dated and Beetlejuice imo.
Sorry. Your home is rubbish and you should just burn it down and start again :(

I'm OK with old fashioned, which is just as well as that's probably what we're doing everywhere. I see why people subscribe to these kind of rules one way or the other but it only works if you all want the same feel, e.g. bright & airy instead of warm and cosy.
