Yes, but they should - not in terms of bodily inspections, that'd be abusive in itself. But most kids have opportunities to talk to adults without their parents present - that should be part of the check, IMO. I mean, some homeschooled kids go to local homeschooling networks, attend cubs or scouts, take swimming lessons, or have respite care now and then, all sorts of things outside the home. The kids that don't do any of those things should be checked up on more.
