RIP David Bowie

Good thing from Paul Mason (if I can manage to post it)

Paul Morley was surprisingly good on Front Row too

Jeremy Vines loves his music tbf and was genuinely upset about today's news.

Not doubting his R2 style musical expertise, and tbf, it's obviously a particularly 'flexible' brand of Christianity he defends so rigorously ( claims they're "persecuted' nowadays)

It was revealed on 4 February 2015 that Vine received a five-figure sum for a post-dinner speech at a £250-a-head banquet organised by ADS Group, the trade organisation that represents defence and security industries in the UK, and attended by global arms manufacturers. Campaign Against Arms Trade lodged a formal complaint with the BBC, claiming a conflict for the organisation appearing to support an industry which “profits from dictatorships which silence and suppress debate”. This prompted a BBC response saying: “Jeremy is a freelance presenter and so can make personal appearances without speaking on behalf of the BBC, as he did here.”[11]

Poor quality, and I'm guessing at 39 minutes this isn't the complete set , but maybe someone else can find a better/longer version?

I was onsite, but missed the 2000 gig for no reason that's forgiveable :(

Those who were there say told me it was a superb gig.

Sorry, not going to get into a row about Jeremy Vine.

It was the best live performance I've ever seen of anything.

it wld be massively dull...was just venting out of frustration at him sat there on Beeb 1 with L Laverne, pontificating...when you think of all the people who's work / music etc actually reflected / was inspired by Bowie over the years, and they end up with a tax dodging, arms pimping Christian square .

Anyway, will shut up.

We've been listening to DB music for a lot of the day.

Some classics ready now to put onto my (new) MP3 player. Will have to hunt for more later this week.

Even that 7 pm tribute on BBC1 was interesting(ish), but I'm much more looking forward to the repeat of this longer one
It'll be on tonight (Monday 11th) at 23:30 -- iPlayer later. We'll watch it tomorrow I think.
Big thanks to the poster who put up the link to this upthread.
