Ridiculous amounts of clothes

I just discovered that I've got 54 t-shirts. There's probably ten that I wear regularly but the rest... Wtf I've no idea how I've amassed so many.

I've got 5 pairs of Adidas Superstars but that's acceptable, I think :hmm:

What ridiculous collections of clothing have you got?

And have you got more than 5 pairs of Superstars?

List your disgusting capitalist hoards of unnecessary clobber here

I wonder if living hand-to-mouth for so long has turned me into a bit of a binge-buyer. Now that money is less tight I delight in the giant-size packets of loo-rolls and 5 litres of olive oil. And finally having a deep-freeze again means a lot of bulk buying. It's not hoarding because we work our way through everything but the feeling of being ready for anything may be similar.

Another thing I'm doing is with clothes. I was let down by High and Mighty when it got silly, by the disappearance of most of those independent shops for larger men (all euphemistically in their names supplying the Fat and Tall). by M&S when they suddenly stopped their outsize dept in the 80s and again online when their prices seemed daft and the design and quality so low more recently, by C&A closing in Spain and so on.

I have the sneaking supicion that the outlet of the Corte Ingles 40 km away is going to stop having massive clothes at silly prices (Timberland khaki chinos for €7.00 in a 38-36) any moment now so I'm constantly buying 2 or 3 of everything (when their own brand trousers are €3.00 more like 6 of everything) for when buying massive clothes is again difficult, or I'm broke again. I tell myself it's only prudent. Again not hoarding as such but perhaps the feeling is a bit the same.
10 hats

6 pairs of braces

11 pairs of addidas trainers

I'm 48 and my mum recently gave me an intervention regarding trainer buying FFS :D
It's spelt ADIDAS but I sympathise with your powerlessness in the face of the addiction to the three stripes. It's a battle.

I have 5 pairs of shoes, 2 casual (but pretty much worn out deck shoes) and three pairs of black laceups I use for work. I need to buy at least one pair of reasonable casual shoes, even trainers perhaps.

I have 5 work shirts and perhaps 5 more that could go with a suit, 3 suits which need dry cleaning, I rarely wear them now because my current work is quite casual. Then I have some casual clothes, a couple of pairs of jeans, two black jeans for work, and some clothes I don't wear anymore which are left in piles. I should look through that group though because some could probably be used.

I don't have that many clothes that I use though. Oh and I have three coats, one a columbo style raincoat which I like and mainly use for interviews, a worn out Barbour like one I use every day and a sort of brown parker type thing which I am not fond of.

Welcome to weltweit's world :)

Mainly footwear. Lemme count them...

7 pairs Adidas trainers
3 pairs smart shoes
1 knackered pair desert boots
1 pair Clarks boot/shoes for work
1 pair Dockers

I have probably 15 t-shirts but I've recently put the same amount in the charity bag.

Also got around 8 coats/jackets and four hoodies.

I have 4 hats

A sunhat whose purchase last year marked the very last day of sunshine!
A Karrimore thingy which is so warm I can only wear it when there is arctic weather.
And two woolly hats given as presents by the same forgetful person a year apart which I never wear!

I suspect killer b will have excessively large amounts of clothing he may wish to confess to :)

And spanglechick has probably got an excessive amount of frocks she may wish to own up to

Lots of other urbs are most likely hoarding large amounts of clobber - this thread is the place to confess :D

I often buy 5 pair packs of the same socks so you can always make a matching pair from ten identical socks

In fact I think I bought 4 packs from Sports Direct (*spits*) so I can always conjure up a matching pair from a collection of 20 identical socks
They won't really be matching though. The only way to ensure they match is to make each pair distinct

Shoes - two pairs of trainers; three or four pairs of suede walking boots; one pair of proper leather walking boots; a few pairs of walking shoes; one pair of 'work' shoes that I never wear.
Coats - three light raincoats (e.g. berghaus); four down jackets; a few fleeces.
Trousers - about ten pairs of levi 501s; several pairs of walking trousers.
Shirts - about three white works shirts (newish), and several older ones that I could wear at a pinch (bit worse for wear though). A number of checked shirts.
Jumpers - lots.
T-shirts - a fair few, but I've never counted them.
Hats - several beanie hats.

If you have ten identical socks how can you differentiate between them? If you wear sock 2 and 7, which are still an identical pair, how would you tell they weren't a matched pair? And why would you care anyway? You'd be wearing a 'pair of socks' that match.
