The building was packed before the trouble started. The very least that should have happened was that those already inside should have continued to have a fantastic party.
As it was the majority just bailed, and the sounds bottled it (and before the flamming begins, I completely understand how much pressure was being put on the rigs, and the need to save their equipment)
But, to be honest, (and I don't want or mean to criticise the organisers) it was a bit of a defeat in some ways.
I mean, if we can't even manage to have a party in a squatted builing anymore...it's bit of a sorry state.
What hope for anything slightly bolder?
The reason I hear a lot for people bailing out is when the dogs turn up, when the choice is getting caught with drugs versus having a party I know what I'd choose..
..On demos where it is all about the politics people don't fade away at the sight of police after all..
..I'd like to think that's a reason rather than people simply don't give a fuck
Maybe having the daytime political stuff in one venue, then for the music side of it going to another venue is an option..
..I saw it advertised in the londonpaper though
Ended up at the other party which was - small crowd but nice vibe, hi to all the urbanites I dribbled at
