Any sentence that includes the phrase "can't afford" (with regard to the state/public finances). Of course we fucking can, just look at the amount of money swilling around in society, the cars on the street, the million pound flats. It's a fucking choice that we don't pay to fix the holes in the road, put roofs over people's heads, don't bother paying for enough police to investigate minor crimes, provide the care people need. Don't ever fucking pretend there isn't enough wealth out there to pay for all these things many times over.
